Beautiful sunny day to day in Laanecoorie and levels are on the drop!

Stay on the main tracks and you will be fine bro.......great time to bring your hibanker and pump to shovel those surfaced areas youve been eyeing off over the years!

Only a few days to go and ere at home the heavens have openened and the rains are coming down sideways. Reality is what we get the GT will get too. Shold mke for an interesting stay at Wanyarra and surrounds.

Just came home from a few days in the GT. The main tracks are all driveable.
Most of the diggings contain some water.
The overburden is all very water logged, but underneath that is dry and hard as usual.
Just makes things a tad messy.
After looking around a bit we decided to just sit by the fire for the weekend and
do some maintenance around the joint.

As a lot of Laaneccorie Bash attendees head over to Cays Diggings (up near the major intersection) just thought I would do an update of conditions of tracks over there.

As you enter at Hill and Dale Track - slippery, some holes 2WD no problems.
Entering into the test pit area - no problems.
Newbridge Track - no problems.
Laane Track - eastern entrance from Hill and Dale - gutter quite deep low cars may have problems, the eastern track is OK.
Laane Track - western entrance from Hill and Dale - OK but about 500m in where the diggings cross the track - muddy and some deep wheel ruts. 4WD was OK. Track gets worse further in.
Paddy Track - western side OK, track OK.
Paddy Track- eastern side, track OK gets slippery down on the low ground.
Up around Chisolms, German, Mechanics- all OK. Perhaps enter from Posedin Rd end.
Hill and Dale - full length OK to 2WD but where the genius road grader cut the wash off across the track, uphill from the Seekers Track intersection, SLOW down quite a lot or erosion. This has been there for a few years but still a hazard.
Seekers track- east and west OK.
Trees down on tracks - we and others have either cleared the tracks or created detours.

If more heavy rain arrives, which is forecast up to and including Friday, the conditions may change but things are draining well.

Most of this is downstream from the Laaneccorie Weir however, Ankers Causeway upstream, near the Laanecoorie Lakeside Caravan Park is well up but passable.

The forecast for the area is Friday 7 Oct - 20% chance of rain - Saturday 8 October - 5% chance of rain - Sunday 9 October - 30% chance of rain.

For those who know Laanecoorie weather the Maryborough/Bendigo/Dunolly forecast is only a rough guide for Laanecoorie.

We have had over 185 mm in the last month or so,here at Creswick,wish it would stop,trying to lay concrete blocks on the edge of the dam,working in water.
At the moment it is raining cats and dogs,and 7.5 c,and the forecast is for it to be much colder next week.
Should be a good ski season again,neighbours went skiing late October last year.

Heading off to Anglers Reach early Wednesday morning for a long overdue fishing trip and the weather doesn't look pretty for the trip over the top .
