That's bloody good news for you and your family that the house is still standing. Feeling for the people you know that have lost there's. All the best down there. :Y:
Hi every one.
I have conformation that both our house and the in laws
houses have survived.
Ours might be a bit singed around the edges but it is still standing.
When I received the news I broke down.
I tried to do an emergency access but I had to be escorted in and out.
I did not consider what I wanted to do as being worth stretching personnel
as they have had a bloody hard job as it is.
I will try again tomorrow and will see how we go.

What you are seeing on the News is only half the story.
Tathra is a mess but,
As a true community, We will all pull together and clean it up.

I would like to thank the people who cared enough to push a phone call through
and also especially thank you one and all for your kind and caring thoughts you
have all displayed to me and my family.
.
It truly cut me to the core to see peoples houses on the News that I know and respect totally
destroyed.
I am preparing for the shock and dismay that I will see as soon as I have access to Tathra.
I have dealt with and assisted folks before as a rescuer before but I did not in some way envisage
myself being on the receiving end.

It is in these times we see the true colours of folk's and I can tell you. I am damned proud of
us all.

cant imagine the stress of not knowing if youve lost everything or not tathra,what a rollacoaster,sounds like a great community,been keeping an eye on reports as im an old south coast boy,good news for some of you down there anyway.....

Glad to hear things are going ok on your house, as I said on the phone if you need anything please give me a call day or night mate, sad to see and hear about the rest of the community tho, heart goes out to them

That's a huge relief that your property is safe!
Not much to report but the damage count is coming in.
69 Houses destroyed,
39 Damaged,
aprox 40 caravans destroyed,
Preschool destroyed,
Water is still on,
Sewridge functional.
Power is in the stages of being restored.
I will let you all know how things are going as I sort it out.

Still no update to give.
We are still being stopped from returning to our homes or what is left of them.
I have an article in this paper.
We will probably be allowed to go and have a look tomorrow so I will take a few photo's
while I am in there.

My thoughts are with you in this difficult time for you and everyone else involved.
Doug, I saw the article this morning in the Mercury.... :Y: no pic's but very heartening to know you are ok.Ihave not rang as I guessed you might have wanted the phone free of too many calls. When the time comes please let us know of any fund being set-up to assist those in need.Better days ahead mate!.

I couple of years back Yarloop near here was destroyed by fire. Almost every building was lost. They called for donations so of course we tried our best to help. We were not financially well off but our kids had grown up and left home and our wardrobe was bulging with perfectly good clothing that we never wore. We bundled up 17 bags of clothes, shoes and other useful items. When we took them in to the local collection centre they said they didn't want clothes, they need money.
That really pissed me off. Those people had lost everything so I'm sure they'd have welcomed a bundle of useful clothing and household items.

I hear you Phil I have many stories of this pathetic conduct that took place post Black Saturday. For those that have and do loose everything an off such as yours is greatly appreciated if you can deliver direct. Unfortunately the Not for profit and community minded organisation's seem to think offers such as these are a total waste of their time
. Tathradj if you know people who could do with any item please let us know and between us we'll make sure their request's are answered. I'll even pay freight if I have to sure everyone (the people affected not the organisation's) needs cash but also the simple things are as important if not more so.
