The Detectorists, UK TV comedy series

I had a good chuckle at Lance's display at one of the DMDC's meetings. Great show. Looking forward to season 3 but disappointed that it's the final series.

    Aldi pre decs and relics

I managed to get out for a quick swing this morning in between the rainfall. Went to a favourite spot that seems to always produce something. Today I found my oldest coin to date, an 1879 3p. its not in the best condition but I'll take it any day. It was sitting on the surface under a rock on...

    Aldi pre decs and relics

G'day Eldorado. Yes mate all metal mode, I just move the sensitivity around a bit depending on the ground and junk. I dont have a pinpointer yet and yes your right sometimes its hard to get an exact location of the target, although its getting easier, for this reason I tend to stick areas that...

    Aldi pre decs and relics

Thanks RJ, I think I've finally worked out what it saying when it talks to me. After nearly 12 months using it, I can confirm that I enjoy this sport, so now its time for an upgrade (early Christmas present). Aldi will live in the car ;)

    Aldi pre decs and relics

Went for a swing yesterday with the not so trusty Aldi detector and had a good day. A few Pennies and Half Pennies. A couple of silvers (one nice one). And a couple of relics. I've done a bit of research on the badge and it looks to be a WW2 RAF pathfinder squadron badge. I'm hoping someone out...

Pre decimal and relics with Garrett Ace 300i

Hi 2freeq, I am also from the Illawarra, only been detecting since the start of the year, using the cheap Aldi detector. I have researched a bit and managed to find a few pre decimals in the local area, nothing really old, I think the oldest was a 192? penny. Also have my eye on a few spots that...

    Aldi "Can Hunter" dectector finds

Picked up my first PD's today with the can hunter. 1959 Roo Penny and a 1954 Half Penny. Stoked. Can't wait to go back to this spot later with an upgraded detector, looks OK so far.

Going back tonight for a better look at a different location.

Who's first to detect newly eroded Beaches?

I had a quick swing this morning. Took my 5 year old daughter so it wasn't a serious look. I think there was a bit too much moisture still in the sand for the trusty aldi (doing strange things). Only found 1 x 50c coin sunbaking. Definitely need an upgrade.

    Found Pre-decimals, does this count?

Thanks RJ, I don't know much about them, only know that I still have to go to work tomorrow. I think the New Guinea penny is pretty cool.

    Found Pre-decimals, does this count?

I bought my house about 5 years ago, in the back yard was an old rusted shed. After moving in I cleaned out the shed and found some "old coins". At the time I hade little interest in treasure hunting and coins so put them in a container and gave them to the wife. 5 years on and now with a...

    Scout Badge

Thanks for that. it was found in the Illawarra region, south coast NSW. In a park adjacent to rarely used scout hall.

    Aldi "Can Hunter" dectector finds

Only found the round 50 this morning at the beach, obviously only just been dropped as it is great condition. its a 2014 Wasn't sure what it was when I first picked it up, I didn't know they changed the size of them 10 years ago. I've only ever seen the larger models. Apparently the fifty cent...

    Aldi "Can Hunter" dectector finds

My Aldi finds to date. best find- Gold ring found at park, missus cashed it in for $100 credit at the jewellers than got some of her old jewellery fixed. Happy wife ;) and she agreed that it has paid for itself. Other stuff- some interesting finds including $38, paid for the batteries. Every...

    Scout Badge

Found this scout badge yesterday, I have done a bit of an internet search wondering where it would have been used, but cant find anything. It has what looks like an old weld on the bottom end, with some old grind marks. It is double sided so I an guessing that it may have been the top of a flag...
