Thoughts & Questions without knowledge.
Just wondering about establishing the frequency of various coils to fit the SDC2300.
Thought is ; could a Frequency Scanner work in this application. ?

Details for the Uniden website:
Mini Compact Handheld Unit:
Radio Scanner/ Emergency Scanner/ Racing Scanner / Sports Scanner
7 Frequency Bands:Covers VHF, FM radio, Aircraft and Land mobile bands.
Frequency Range:75-85MHz, 88-174MHz and 410-489MHz

need a oscilloscope.
But I am pretty sure the frequency is 3khz...No idea what the inductance is....

Um,
I read your question as using a radio receiver. ?

Yes the Thought was a bit out there.
Om !
What i`m trying to achieve is a Large Spoke Coil that may work on the SDC2300.
Although the N/F ``16 mono is functioning to what level i`m not entirely shore.
It`s just way to heavy tobe waving around for any length of time.
So a spoked coil could be the answer.
Seeking Spoked coil within the SDC frequency range.

From my own limited understanding, PI frequency isn't the only critical factor in mono coil design. Key electrical considerations apparently include the coil's resistance, capacitance and inductance, as well as its resonant frequency. This document about designing and building a highly-sensitive PI coil, has more details on the subject:

Thankz Grubstake for the link above.
Hopefully `i` may stumble upon some spoke coils to test without the mathematical equations & manufacturing's.
``16 NF coil testing on SDC2300.
Setting No 5. 0.3 gram @ 75mm. but detector became unstable after 10 mins.
Setting No 2. Stable over 1/2 an hour . 0.3 gram & 0.6 gram @ 50mm to 300mm.
That`s all `i` have at the moment & the readings have not yet been tested in Hot Mineralised Ground.
Just a thought on the weight difference between ``16 NF and a spoke coil of similar dimension.
I guess Grecky `i` think he is involved with nugget finder would have an idea of which spoke coil may work on this unit.
He may come to the party with an opinion.
A good guess is better than a bad calculation as they say.

12x8 evo or wait for
New sdc coil.
Has anyone heard any more about the aftermarket sdc coil . Been a while with no more info. ?

12 x 8 every day of the week. I am waiting to get my hands on one, have a lovely spot in the Pilbara spinifex country where i think it will be just the thing.

I hear about the sdc unicorn at the shop every couple of weeks. Personally i dont think its even a good idea (could be wrong) my feeling is that the sdc is what it is ,built , tested and designed around that coil. Electronics suits that coil etc. etc. Its not really tunable and i would put a larger sdc coil up against my nuggetfinder 12" any day of the week. The 12 will win hands down with the right settings

I have a 12 round evo for the 5000 and it does the job on small plus larger gold. I also have an sdc that is just waiting for a mid mount coil even if its no better than the one thats on it. I hate the rear mount . Im waiting on the 12/8 for the 5000 or the supposed new coil for the sdc?

I dont understand why you wouldnt like the rear mount 8 inch?
Quite often when poking my Sadie in under prickly bush and into cranies I wish it was rear mount to get that bit extra reach!

Hi
Has anyone got some info on the socket wiring configuration on the sdc...i know its a different plug to the gpx machines i just neet to know what pin does what to make and adapter as id like to test a few different coils

Any diagrams or help appreciated

Thankyou
