The Falcon 9 launch tht should have happened this afternoon has been delayed. NASA will not allow 2 launches within 24 hours. There is an Atlas 5 launch at 9 am AEST tomorrow and Spacex have to wait for a new launch date. Our first Space Jam? Launch sites will be much in demand as the number and pace of the launches picks up. Spacex alone plan 30 launches in 2018 compared with 18 last year. The Cape Canaveral launch site is working towards 48 launches per year.

A bit of e read on Reddit and it seems that tracking and communication are one of the constraints. NASA want SpaceX and others to use "new autonomous flight safety systems, which reduces the demands of tracking and communications assets at the range." SpaceX currently use the NASA systems.

An interesting read on the situation. http://spacenews.com/falcon-9-launch-to-wait-until-after-atlas-5-mission/

Oooh, very nice. How do you get these?

There are a few places. Individual companies sell their own merchandise. The Space Store has a good range of gear.

Don't forget the Falcon 9 launch live at 4.30 It seems there will be no attempt to recover the first stage today. Interesting as the launch should have happened a week ago. The ship had been out waiting for a week than had to come in for fuel and supplies. So it seems they originally did intend a recovery. A waste of the landing gear and Titanium grid fins.

Just saw this .... "SpaceX will not attempt to land Falcon 9s first stage after launch due to unfavorable weather conditions in the recovery area off of Floridas Atlantic Coast."

Not a rocket launch but some here might find it an interesting read. Its about a urban photographer that snuck into a abandoned russian space shuttle hanger.

I ad sen that article before. Very interesting. The Buran was built from stolen plans and public information about the American shuttle. Supposedly a better vehicle.

Makes ya wonder what else is laying out there in the open or just hidden? Time for some JAWS music!!!! yikes

Lots of junk out there Jaros. When the USSR was failing the rocket scientists were told to destroy all the engines. But they hid them away in the 70s. They were discovered in the 90s. A "forest of rocket engines." Bought by the Americans and used to launch many "American" rockets. Interesting tat even though they were older, 70s technology, they were still 15 - 30 % more efficient than current American designs.

A couple of nice videos re SpaceX. The first is a montage of shots from the Falcon Heavy launch. The 2nd video captures the centre core smashing into the ocean. Not much footage but you see it a few times....

Got to say Space X has been one of the most beautiful things I have seen in my life.

Big thankyou to Elon Musk and I wish him mountains of good luck ...

However I have a sneaking suspicion that there are wealthy powerful interests who may be conspiring to chop him off at the knees to maintain their own interests.
