Top job RR, well done.
Has anyone else found any Penny Farthings yet.?
I still have the three I found with my GT1600 on a building site and I am a bit surprised that I have not seen one up on here yet.
.
For the unknowing a Penny Farthing coin is a bit smaller than a one cent piece. Pre Decimal.

I think you mean farthing. A penny farthing is a push bike. :D

A farthing is 20.19mm in size and 1/960th of 1 pound sterling. I'd love to find one. Minted from 1860 to 1956. The first image is the design used from 1895 to 1936. The 2nd was used from 1937 to 1956

I didn't know they changed the farthing. I remember the first (older) coin from when I was a kid, we used to find quite a few of them but I have never seen the second coin.

So I went for a wander to get my fix late this arvo. There is a small park near our house. I don't really think of it as a park, more an empty block of land. It's only small, the size of a large house block, but has a couple of picnic tables. I thought that nobody ever goes there but maybe back in the past....
I'm there 30 seconds and get the penny. My last coin as it got dark was a lovely florin. Spent a maximum of 20 minutes. I'd still be there but it got dark and I'd offered to cook dinner for the boss lady. :D
So I now have a place very close by to hit up when the need arises.

Couldn't resist. Had to go back to the little park that I now rename as BB Park. Another florin and 1 penny plus 8 each of 1 and 2 cent pieces. That's 24 of the little buggers in a park the size of a big house block. Seems it was used more as a park from the late 60s as there doesn't seem to be too many pre decs. There is an old driveway and lots of mechanical type trash. Pieces of old brick and lots of broken glass. Also mechanic type businesses across the road. OH can't forget the little truck. Must be the little boy inside me but I like finding the matchbox cars :D

Just a quick hunt today. An hour and a half. Another florin so it must be florin week :D It has a coating I haven't seen before and it won't come off with a quick wash. Interesting finds are the hexagonal thingy. Unfortunately the colours are almost completely gone but going by the hieroglyphs on the back it's obviously ancient Egyptian. ;)
The other round piece I originally thought was the rim of a shotgun cartridge but after cleaning it up and doing some quick research it seems to be the knob off a Radius camping light or cooker.

Anywho it was another good day behind the coil. :)

Cool finds, and good research. That florin is a bit rough...."but you will take it!"
That spot will give me a florin, or at least a ramshead :) Cant wait!

Definately has potential Rocket. I just wandered randomly today to suss it out. A more structured effort should reap rewards.
Yes the florin is a bit rough. Has a bend and a couple of nicks in it but....I'll take it :D
