You know that a place hasn't been touched with a detector when this happens! We arrived at Rockhampton today and elected to stay at one of the van parks here. While the Mrs. was putting some washing in the machines, I thought Id have a quick swing. In just over 1 hr, I pulled 23 coins out of the ground. The most exciting was a Singapore 20c and a 1945 Penny. The rest were made up of just "rats and mice" [1 and 2c pieces - Fairdinkum they are everywhere]
I purposely had my At Pro set for the upper values [65+] so that I could dig the $1 and $2 coins for the washing, but ofcourse that includes the blasted coppers too. Might have to check under the clothes lines tomorrow - another great source of coinage dropped in van parks. All todays coins were found in an area covering just four tent sites.

Sorry fellas no piccies. Just boring little coppers. [They ring the highest, and are worth the least]

A couple of hours this arvo and went back to where I got the 1807 Hapenny.I put my Standard coil back on, (feels so heavy after the 5x8), and I went over the same area but swung really slow and made sure my sweeps of the coils overlapped. Picked up 4 more pre decs. No silver but another early halfpenny, 1827 George IV. This spot doesn't have a huge ammount of coins but apparently some older ones. Hoping I can pull an old silver from there.
I thought the disc with the hole in it was a dog tag but it appears to have nothing on it.

Sweet, very nice coin Ramjet. Looks like you've come across a site with decent age to it, hopefully there's some old silvers still there somewhere. :)

That's what I'm hoping for GP. Have to swing slow and listen for those sneaky little silvers.

Here's hoping for you RJ,..... congrats on the coinage.
Another hats off moment there for you, to be sure. ;)

Today's hunt started in great style. First target of the day was an 1879 threepence which was just in the leaves under a tree. It was quickly followed by an 1826 Halfpenny, (a year earlier than the one I found yesterday and it's in better condition). That was it for the pre decs until my last target of the day, a 1933 penny. A different location from yesterday.

Loving these older coins, the George half penny is a very nice find, and a cracker of a coin. Knew there had to be silver somewhere on that site, the old 3p looks to have stood the test of time with flying colours, still got some nice detail to it. :)
