The rocks they used to build the Seaway came from all over South East QLD... On another hand, Did he find it at the Sea Way?
If it is true, you wouldn't be standing at the spot to have your pic taken....

Another Gold Coast Scam..

But hang on the fluke of flukes and chances in a million isn't just one piece but three and I know tides tend to drop things in groups ..................... but all three out of three visible ? ...................... I think his hand might indeed be on something very close to his own nuggets ...................... without doub't in fact ;)

Funnily enough this gentleman is also a very pro active Southport resident it appears also :)

They haven't said where the nuggets were found... only the Beach.... we have 45km of 'Beach' here... Photo was taken Between Main Beach and Seaway area...Im sure if it was me I wouldn't be getting my pic taken at the Location.... that's for sure. .. They are Dredging the Broadwater at the moment.... But I say BS...

Years ago, they kept finding $20 and $10 notes washed up at Burleigh Beach.... over a period of 2 weeks they scored 1000's... when the cops got hold of a few notes, they discovered they were the proceeds of a very large Robbery, here on the coast.... Casino Robbery I think... Turns out they stashed some money out on Palm Beach Reef and the Bag broke open...... Never seen so many Divers at the Reef and beach walkers that week-end....

I haven't seen any theories of sunken ships coming from n.s.w. or vic back in the day yet ?

Hey Lonewolf you said " No it isn't... You can detect as much as you like...as long as you 'Declare' your finds to the Police..... So you can collect after a cooling-off period lol
LoneWolf..."

what is this advice based on ..Act or Regulation....???????????????

There is the QLD Fossick Act and the QLD Fossicking Regulation and neither state (to best of my knowledge) anything about declaring fossicking finds to Police.

cheers
Mike

That's it... It is not Fossicking or Prospecting under the Law... and.. a bit of Practical Experience MikeB05... Found a nice Gold Chain at Broadbeach a long time ago and was told by another operator who saw me digging something up that if I think it's valuable, to Declare my find to the Cops... So after 28 days or so , I had a call to come and collect my Gold Chain... Sold next day for $$$$ :Y:

They tried to stop it but have given up over the years....Council im talking about, not State Gov. No Law applies... By Declaring your finds you have covered your butt as far as the Law is concerned... and 9 times out of 10 after 28 days (I think it still is) the goodies are yours... Legally. :) .. now most finds are not declared... those who choose not to declare run the risk of being charged by police for Receiving Stolen Goods, If it ever turns to crap :( Finders Keepers, not on your life in QLD No such law.... It has happened before... especially if the Original owner reports his loss to the Police first.. :/ :N:

A couple of years ago we had a fellow dressed in a council shirt telling Detector operators to leave the area or you will be Prosecuted... He would follow you to your car, making sure you go. Looked very Official.... ... Then a quick shirt change, grab his Detector and away He went, Detecting right where you left off.... He got in big Poo for that one...

Gem in I... Its not NSW or VIC but..... There is a Sunken Spanish Galleon at Swan Bay on the southern tip of North Stradbroke Island... Went into the Bay for repairs after severe weather and was destroyed by more bad weather.... Local Aborigines know all about this... and so does the QLD Museum... Finds so far include Buttons, decayed Pistols and a few other items.... There was a story on it in Gold, Gem and Treasure mag a few years ago.... :Y:

In response to Lone Wolf's post, it's like finding a wallet in the street,,...either use the ID within to return to owner, but best option is to hand to the Police, and accept a receipt for goods. Advertise the find in the local rag, and 28 days later, if unclaimed, it's yours. :Y:

I had occassion to test this when i found a carry all bag stuffed under a log and brush in an old waterway while detecting. It had a few personal items inside, including a great Sterling Silver Tankard that commemorated the owners 21st B'day. When i handed it in, the blue boys got my details, then declared i could take possession in 28 days (i'd be notified) if unclaimed.

I wasn't interested in the goods, and asked what happens if unclaimed and i relinquish ownership? His response was the incinerator out the back..where all lost property goes for disposal apparently, but that could also mean 'public auction' .. :/

]:D ]:D ]:D ]:D No finders keepers eh?....i reckon it'd be a miracle for anyone coming out and claiming their 1903 Sovereign found in the scrub lol.....

A couple of years ago , I think it was 2 boys fishing in a creek or stream hooked onto a bag which contained $250,000 or there abouts and declared it, no-one came forward and they scored big time.
Me thinks drug money being out near Nimbin way. They grow a lot of wacky tobacky out there.
