Family holiday to Mansfield Vic - metal detecting with the kids

Hi all,

Ill be up in mansfield with the kids for a few days at the beginning of July. I have a Nox900, but have never used it to look for gold (I mainly use it on the beach).

Any suggestion on where I can take an 11yr old to do some searching?

If im unlikely to find gold (which i know is probably the case), are there any places I might find a few old coins ect?

Can’t help you with any advice about gold detecting in that area, so I think you might be restricted to coin or relic hunting.
May be some opportunities along lake Eildon in picnic areas etc. Also maybe try and research an on line map of old Mansfield or old towns nearby and identify areas where people may have congregated like old racetracks, long gone pub sites etc.
