Open Street Maps (OSM) .pbf files

Does anyone know of an easy to use viewer for .pbf (not pdf) files? They might be good for use on a laptop (and other devices?) when there is no sat or cell service. If there's a better free option I'm all ears. :-) Cheers

    Black sands

I haven't panned these right down because I was interested in knowing what else might be in there. Is there anything that looks interesting? The little grey spheres looked a bit odd to me.

    Clean concentrates with hydrochloric acid

I was reading today the HCL has no effect on gold. So, I was wondering how it would go cleaning up concentrates. I bought some at Bunnings and mixed it 50/50 with water and a couple of tablespoons of fine quartzy material. That was a few hours ago and not much seems to be happening. I also read...

    Miller Table Fun

I'm having a bit of fun making a Miller table here and 7.62 suggested I post a few pics. This pic shows a simple drain setup to empty the tub. This tap came from that joint with three balls. Cost about $5. 25mm low density polypipe fits over the end nicely, and then 25mm flexi hose fits into...

Tips for sitting in cattle crap and piss all day

I've been wearing high gumboots, jeans, short sleeve shirt, and an Akubra. The gumboots were going well for the first few trips - until I really started getting down into it, and then they just filled up with the same cattle crap and piss that the rest of me was soaking in. There's got to be a...

    Right of thoroughfare

No Camping No Shooting No Trespassing Private Property Keep Out The no camping and the no shooting I can easily understand, but what's the story with the others? If they appear on a map and connect two places beyond the boundary of the signposted area does one not have a legal right of...

What lurks below the surface of a river?

I was digging in a small mountain stream today and had to reach in a lot to move bigger pebbles and small rocks. I'm pretty new to all this and am wondering, are there any poisonous critters down there? Cheers
