G'Day Dr Duck,
You seem to be well into the Asian food scene, I picked up a packet of Szechuan pepper, had a little play and taste, certainly a different taste sensation, you nailed it with your description, will roast some with salt and try it with some squid tonight.
Cheers, Sinhof.

Well they all got into it Billy, no one said yuck or screwed up their face at all, so I can only surmise that it went down well.
Daughter even had seconds ,... and she's a fussy picky eater ! :D

Yep Sinhof, I really like the flavor of that pepper. In China I had dishes loaded up with it and chilli. The combination of the numbing and burning is addictive.

Try making the salt and pepper mix by roasting it with salt, grinding in the mortar and pestle, and sprinkling it on the squid after it is fried.

Hi Dr Duck,
Mate, the Szechuan pepper has been roasted and ground, we are just preparing the squid and we will be into it shortly, keen to try the variation and the tapioca corn flour mix.
Cheers, SinHof.

Also doing the Mango Chutney tommorow too, got the pre sliced Mango flesh thawing in the refrigerator right now ,..... it's been frozen for now for 3 (Mrs Silver says 5) years waiting on just the right impetus for a start. (ha)
Guess wanting to shut down the old fridge may have a slight bearing on the reasoning side of it all too (mango flesh is the last thing in there needing using).

Well it's on the stove.
Prepared some of my really really old stored chillies too. :p

Finally finished cooking ,.... we done a few smaller bottles incase we get cornered and feel pressured by the family ,.... if I have to reach into the cupboard on purpose I'll just pull out a small bottle (ha).
Will share a few special bottles though. ;)

Smelt great all day Jaros, was a bit in my face when Mrs S was cutting the onions with the fan blowing the fumes straight at me though, I was sitting there (looking at the forum) just thinking about helping with tears streaming down my face. 8.(

Great work, I bet the smell was great - mind the eyes watering all well worth it.

I could only imagine anyone walking past what great smell they would have had for that brief moment.

Top work Mr and Mrs S :)

Couple of bottles of each that didn't seal properly went to two of the neighbors already, with many thanks of approval. :D
