Every weekend theres groups of trail bike riders tearing around the place . Maybe just ban motorbikes !

Same at Jenolan state forest , I nearly got cleaned up there once by bike riders flying over a crest !

Sunny Corner State Forest has been closed to fossicking. It's been offlimits on Minview & NSW State Forest ArcGis for awhile now - not sure of the official reasoning but it came after an incident where a motorbike rider went into an old mine & was injured. Newspaper reports suggested he was going to start legal proceedings against NSW State Forests.

Elle Dalzell, of Shine Lawyers, will argue there should have been obvious warning signs, barriers and fencing to warn park-goers of the dangers.

"Our client went through terrible mental and physical pain while his traumatised son watched on, fearing his dad was dying," she said.

Unfortunately you can't help stupid! :N:
Easier to close these places than put up barriers for idiots. It's just not feasible to put up signage, barriers & fencing for every single disused mineshaft in these places.

Yes a real theme, its the old case of a person riding into a tree and taking the council to court but the court view was a reasonable person should have and could have avoided the incident, Since the tree cannot avoid the accident.

Does that also include Dark corner too

It appears as though NSW State Forests have removed their No Fossicking closure over Sunny Corner but it is now largely covered by Exploration Lease/s (Dark Corner Forest area looks mostly ok) & most of the northern areas are outside of the Bathurst LGA Fossicking District meaning permission from the lease holder/s would be required.

Just curious how they can obtain an EL on state forest and in National parks too when these are public lands paid and maintained by tax payers dollars .
And just out of curiosity I looked up our property in the Hunter and the back south west corner has an EL on it which we aren't aware of

Because in most cases in Australia the Crown still owns the minerals under the ground not the landowner.
In NSW State Forests exploration is an allowable activity, in areas not protected etc., as is fossicking. Exploration or fossicking isn't allowed in most National Park areas but Exploration is in their State Conservation Areas. You'll notice the EL north of Sunny Corner borders the Turon National Park but doesn't go over it.
When they put EL's over large areas they aren't required to notify all landholders. They do need to negotiate access arrangements if they want to directly access specific areas for on ground exploration activities within the EL. Most of the area they cover never gets accessed directly so most landholders would likely not be aware. A lot of exploration over large areas is done from the sky & on ground activities only cover small specific targeted areas of interest. If you don't know about the EL than it's likely because they haven't identified any area of interest on your land (yet) that they need access to?
NSW EL holders are only required to post notification of lease area activities etc. in the local paper/s or contact stakeholders for medium to high impact activities or publish a notice on application over an area in local papers etc.

Looks like Minview & NSW State Forest ArcGis are now showing Sunny Corner State Forest as being reopened to fossicking. Could some validate my observation please - just want to make sure i'm reading it right.
