The local Bunnings battery/torch/generator sections have been decimated over the last few days, the upside is that there should be a few more prepared people out there now.
Hopefully we don't see another supercell like the one that was associated with the previous cold front/low, last thing we need is more tornado occurrences across the mid north.

Sometimes it takes something like that to wake people up and to no be so complacent.

Stay away from falling tower. Surprising how little concrete was around the base of the towers and how thin the metal was??

Years ago I was involved in putting up a 100 foot tower. The cement base was greater than the base size of the tower and around 5 feet deep that was the specs we had to use. Thats a lot of concrete.
I am no engineer but those transmission towers I would have thought would need 5 or 6 times the concrete on each leg than they have.
Bet they will be looking into thst as well as the structural strength.

Can someone here try to work out approximately how much concrete is on each of those footings.
There's probably some "ginger beers" in the forum.
To make a guesstimate one diminision is required. Footing size should be influenced by soil type too.
