There is some good looking bits of timber in those mines - wonder if people will be back in there in another 20,30,50 years to mine the timber. Is that last shot at a dam? Cheers for the photos and stories

Explored the top end of Slaty Creek Creswick today. There was evidence of extensive mining for gold including several large dams used to feed slucing downstream. The dams are now dried and the sides have collapsed exposing the bases of nearby shafts. The drives are exposed and can be entered from ground level. A number of shafts can be photographed side-on and you can see the foot holes once used to climb in and out. Some of the shafts in this area are very deep and most seem to have drives at the base.

Explored an area in Glen Park Creswick today. The first photo is not very good but it shows a small tunnel that leads into a deep shaft to the side. It's as though they wanted a second exit from the shaft on the side of the mound. The photo does not do the setup justice. The other photos show shafts with drives underneath. There was also a drive that afforded ground level entrance but I was not too happy about crawling inside.

No I live nearby in Ballarat. Noticed about three people gold prospecting today in the Creswick Forest. The hobby is getting very popular.

Cool im out there everyday im in the white gq patrol yell out if ya want always good to meet pa members.

Creswick is crawling with prospectors all year round mate especially during the wet season.

Hello 20x hows the gold finding going? If your dad has access to private property around dartmouth Vic You should head down for a fossick, still a bit of colour about. Id be interested to know what property that mine is on as I have done a bit of research on the area. Interesting way they have done the timber sets with the cap set at an angle to the the floor & fully lagged. I have production figures for some of the mines in the area. A lot of the mine locations in the Dart, Mitta, Eskdale area were not accurately recorded. Some have good historical records some are not within 2km of the reported position.
