Hi all, newbies here based in West Australia (wifey runs a GM1000 and i have an old GP Extreme). Looking to get into prospecting, being in my latter years now and trying to keep active. As an ex Electronics Technician, I may be of help to some with some projects i am building, having just completed a new power/amp mod for my GP Extreme. Now i will be using all my Makita 18v lithium's, via an inexpensive, adjustable regulator (ex Altronics) instead of paying a fortune for new batts for it! Any help with locations closer to Perth's northern suburbs greatly appreciated, but still learning my machine and how to use trilobite.

Road tested the new Batt mod today, and actually runs noticeably quieter, than the old Lucky Lark lithium unit i got with the detector. Some pics below, can be done with any power Tool lithiums, as easy to get batt connectors (Ebay), and a $7.50 adjustable 3 amp power module from Altronics. I also hooked my old B&Z booster up in the new casing, as it will handle the 6.8v regulated rail voltage, rather than using the 2x AAA 1.5 volt Batts. Will need to check on run time, but having 7x higher capacity batts available, I won't be running low on power out there by the looks. Still have a Power switch to add, but runs great on both headphones or a speaker!
