Thanks Jaros for keeping count, and thank you all for making me feel welcome during the entire journey,...actually had to go through the my posts button and see my latest post to realise I'd crossed the threshold after spotting your post in unanswered topics(glad I looked there now) ,...starting to feel like a bit of an old hand at this now(and I can one finger touch type much faster too) and still enjoying being here as much as on day 1(for me) 29th December 2013,.. and I just looked back and can see that I just slipped in without even introducing myself in the appropriate threads(ha).(didn't know a thing then) this is still my one and only Forum,...so I guess I was spoiled from the start(thanks Nugget),...never felt like being anywhere else yet,..thanks all.(and thanks Jaros mate).
Silver.

Great commitment silver, a thousand posts in a year?.......get a life mate! Hehe

Thanks for sharing what you know with us all.

Maybe we could have a ranking system according to post count under our avatars.....something different from 'Newbie' or 'Member' which may encourage more participation from members.
Sort of a system of recognition for time and contributions spent, know what I mean?
Makes people feel good and gives further encouragement to learn and share, as well as giving new members a instant visual makeup of your experience for taking any advice given.

I know quality is just as important as quantity but below could be a considered example.

0-20 posts = Newbie

20-50 posts = Member

50-100 posts = Prospector

100-200 posts = Senior Prospector

200-300 posts = Guru Prospector

300-400 posts = Field Instructor

400-500 posts = Gold specialist

So on, and so on with 1000+ posts being the highest ranking of 'Grand Gold Master' or something of the likes?

Just a thought!

Has been successful on other forums unrelated to prospecting.

;)

Metamorphic, you Idea would work ok but would also encourage serial posters, I have seen a points system, simular to our "Like" button, but when a person likes a post it adds to the receivers point total, thus rewarding good posts.

I hope someone gains something from my posts Metamorphic,...oh, and by the way I don't share everything I know, otherwise we'd all be professionals(ha).

Not really paydirt. you can set controls against blatant abuse in vb bulletin script etc, as you probably just found out.

As for attracting more spam posts/serial posters etc, that's why we have mods, it goes on in most forums anyway including here!

Was hugely successful in my old computer forums but like anything on a forum, the kids have to be policed.

@Silver....Lol, true mate!

You definitely tend to meet the whole person in person. I guess we all have our persona that is formed in different ways. My edited version is a whole lot nicer than what goes on in my head at times, and I can see why guys keep technique, finds and equipment out of here, I'm the same way. Any way for what is worth I feel lucky to have interactions both inside and outside the forum.

I just save a little bit of me for me GT,....just a little edge for if I go travelling and hunting sometime in the future,....otherwise I give a fair bit.
