Went out to a permission for hunt #38, the site of an 1880s ruins. There wasnt much left of her:

Grass was pretty long in most places so wasnt ideal, but I gave it a good 3 hours anyway! Heres the lot:

Didnt come up with much, lots of 303s though! I did manage to dig up this absolute gem:

Also got this buckle too, nowhere near as ornate:

Unfortunately the owner wanted to keep the ornate buckle, but thats the game, its his land so I dont hold any grudges, and he was out there being my shovel man the whole time, he was very interested and knowledge about the area so it was a good day, I think Ive sparked a fire in him though because he said he was going out to buy his own detector!

Booked in another one of my banked up RDOs today and braved the heat for hunt #39!

I went back to the local reserve that had recently been coughing up pennies and half pennies for me, heres the lot:

Plenty of aluminium as always, part of a watch, 1 penny, 1 half penny, and a strange lump of metal, probably going to be a melted down bit of rubbish, but Ill clean it in case its somwthing like a meteor :p

Within the first hour I got this pretty nice 1916 penny:

The heat was getting to me, had finished up my 2L water i bought with me and I was on my 5th one last good signal then Im going signal, waking towards the exit and I scored this:

My first silver of the year! My first ever florin! What a good day!

Cheers

Wow! That's an awesome way to start off your florin collection. You realize that the next 10 will all be plain old 1947s cos you've used up your luck for a while! :playful: Just joking. beauty find :Y:

Forum,

I just had a look over my thread and I totally forgot I had set myself some detecting milestones, Ive just now rejiggered the list to be more inline with my detecting interests, my original list was very heavy in jewellery finds, and it turns out Im just not that interested in beach detecting/hunting jewellery!

Im still a long way aways from completing the list:

This is my new detecting bucket list for 2019 and beyond,

Hoping to get out on a hunt this weekend, stay tuned! :Y:

I thought about it, that would be the ultimate find but I wanted to keep it realistic

Im sure there are lads here been at it 20+ years and never found one? My understanding is that it was extremely extremely rare? A lot of money back in the day?

Went out early today to try to get hunt #40 in before it got too hot, hes the result from 2 hours in the same park as last hunt: penny, half penny, 5c and another bloody florin wooo! What makes it better is that it was the first target of the day and my second ever florin, my first florin was the last target of my last hunt! Thats two in a row, albeit 4 days apart :p
