That 577/450 was possibly originally owned by Police or Military.
SA Police owned the 577 Snider in Adelaide, it was 'free' settlers, and no military here to be using them.
Kato found a projectile in her grandfathers back yard, in good condition considering it was fired in the 1860/70's.
More recently another one not too far away from Fort Largs, maybe fired down along the beach front at some earlier time.
The 577 Snider was the forerunner to your cartridge.
Kato has modern cast 577 projectiles, cases of Snider design and also Kynock cases for the 450, donated to her collection for reference to her projectile.

Gawd, I thought I was the only one.
Found two cars detecting on Glenelg beach, one buried about 8 inches under the top one which was about 12 inches under the sand.
Both EXACTLY the same toy car in the same good condition,
I thought that it may have been twins burying them as treasure to dig up later, and then lost until I turned up.
30+ years ago, Kato may or may not have them, not sure if I passed them on to her yet.
