Another 5 hour hunt today, trying a few settings combos on the Deus. Also gave the Racer 2 another run late in the day to see what I could pick out from the iron (with small coil).
Another fella that I met a week or so ago had already completed several hours of detecting when I rocked up, didn't seem like he found too many good targets. I headed off trying out reactivity 2, audio response 4, and 11kHz to try and pick up on some of the deeper targets that I may have overlooked.
First good target was a 1905 Edward half penny that was probably missed due to lack of coverage, though the second coin, an 1877 Victorian penny, was a mere faint squeak from the surface. I videoed the extraction of the coin from the hole, and it was in the range of 13-14 inches deep, no wonder I missed that on the first 18kHz pass!
Other items included a fob watch cover and face, buckles, silver gilded cap, lead piece with some sort of coat of arms, and the usual assortment of buttons.
One interesting item that cropped up late in the day was a Commonwealth Cadet Corps button with intact shank (Stokes & Son, Melbourne). Looks like that originated from Victoria where school children were enlisted to do compulsory cadet service around 1911.
Seems like there are still a few targets around, certainly not coming easily, though there if you look/listen hard enough. There is so much buried iron on the bottom section of the site that the Deus
mineralisation meter reads nearly full bars, so not the easiest area to pick through. More pics/video to follow.

So much good stuff there, as Smoky said, I wonder what was found there on the first few hunts by the people who first detected the site.

The Racer did good with the small coil, very precise at locating non-ferrous targets amongst all the iron nails, wire and crap littering the ruins. Only had a short run last two trips with it, though should get some more time in as the other targets start to thin out from the surrounding area. Very simple to use after starting up, select program (relic), wind back the sensitivity a bit, ground balance and off you go.
Strangely enough, wrapping a decent amount of camo wrap around the Racer grip has made it much more comfortable to use, as I find the stock grip is a little too skinny to comfortably grip for long periods.
Am currently uploading a reasonably long video of both detectors in operation, going to take a few hours though being around 40 mins long - and that's before even uploading to you tube .

When you are on the relics all day, that one coin find is a real sweetener and can be quite a challenge to find compared to the park hunting scenario.
Bought the new Deus 9" high frequency coil today. Have umming and arrring over whether to get the orignial 9" or the HF one for a while now. I guess that good all-round 14kHz frequency was the deciding factor, not to mention the added battery capacity which will come in handy. The MI6 pinpointer will be on hold for now, already got too many pinpointers anyway.

Bit of a double up hunt from last night into the wee hours of the morning (1950's house site), and again today at the usual spot. Did lots of aimless walking last night hoping to snag something good, came across several coins - 1948, 1951, & 1943 pennies, 1948 & 1943 hp's, 1938 & 1951 sixpence and lastly a lone 1952 threepence. The funny shaped copper item next to the coins is a shell shaped pin, not sure if the little "baby" pendant is silver.
Second up was the trip to the previous house site, no coins but found yet another dog tag from 1896-97, stamped as dog number "1" for the district that year. A few fob watch parts were located, with he bezel being gold gided (cover silver plate), a "U.S. Electric Lamp" knob, and a decent array of buttons including a "Buckley & Nunn, Melbourne" example. Mrs Goldpick had a bit of fun with the Racer 2 and small coil going through contaminated ground, she found the fob watch cover, spoon handle and a few buttons.
