Giving the specimen a hydrochloric acid bath as per suggestions. Hoping I dont wreck it.
Gave my half ouncer a good scrub with soapy water and a toothbrush. Going to leave it as is as I think its got character.

I dont think I put these up in July when I found them. I did a trip out bush with my mate from WA for four nights. The result was just short of an ounce between us. Great trip. Detectors were Minelab 4500 with Coiltek 14 inch mono Elite and a Minelab 5000 with a Nugget Finder 14x9 evo coil. It has taken a while to learn the 4500 but Ive got a bit of a handle on it now and Im really happy with how it performs. Regards Rick

Trecked a few hundred metres through the scrub off a rocky mountain trail, pretty remote ground, and some beautiful scenery.

This is a known gold area, so I thought I'd try my luck with the detector.

So, turns out this spot must have been a lot more popular some time ago.
I hate it when that happens.

Still found a gem of a camping spot
