Under 2 grams it gets sold. That is what I have decided to do. Anything larger I keep as investment for my children to sell on me when I am gone. :-(

I really want a ZED, but have decided to keep the SDC and let it do its thing for me. (There you go RM Outback)
Positive side is no deep holes to dig. lol
If it makes enough money in sub 2 gram nuggets to pay for the ZED then I will bite the bullet.
I too like everyone else have had issues with my SDC, the battery's needing tape, the 3rd headphones replaced as crimp is weak on water proof connection, which we remedied by using the SDC Dust covers. Also noisy days, some EMI, others ended up being grit in between coil cover...etc etc...
But besides those minor issues, the SDC is idiot proof.

Walked 4km to get to a new prime spot and it was quiet as a mouse. Get home and load up GPS way points and realised I was about 250mtrs short of the location.
DOH!!!!
And these spots produce, but in only like 40mtr runs. So if you are out by a few metres, you will get NOTHING...NOTHING...NOTHING!!!!!!!!!

Its all or nothing in the detecting game! Even at 1 metre out it may as well be 1,000!
Well WA is done and dusted for another winter and it was great...now I am back in the sleet and snow.
Two of us went to WA detecting in mostly the east Pilbara for 8 weeks. The creeks had a good scouring from earlier flooding and this helped us find a few pieces.
We did a lot of exploring with little success. We went to a few favorite little creeks but some locals or regulars had beat us to a couple of them. Snakes were thick as this year, seen 12 and stepped on two (while the silly boy was night detecting)
We did not do as well as last year but are happy with the 23 ounces we found between us. I also found a 1885 3P coin in a dry waterhole in a big sandy creek in the middle of nowhere. Its obvious from the old miners trash and camp evidence the old miners followed up the big creeks with waterholes and worked inland from them.
My best find was a big flat 76 grammer. It was 65cm deep... and the 14 missed it but the 19 coil gave a nice warble over it. 19 paid for itself qick smart. My favorite find is a leaf gold piece that is folded and flattened and has some crystal faces in different spots on it.
Time to fill in my gold recovered forms and send them to Minerals and the EL holders.......don't want to give the authorities reason to curtail our hard fought rights...or put me on a database to not be able to get future 40E's. Fill out you minerals recovered forms boys and girls.

Great finds RDD. Also good clear images of your finds. Just wondering about the little triangles on some of your pieces, is this usual? Just wondering if this is a natural formation of gold.
Can't help feeling sorry for the old timers loosing coins. It may have meant the difference between whether they ate or not.

A Zed with standard coil didnt detect a 76 grammer (2.4 ounce) nugget at 0.65 Metres deep?
Im not familiar with the area is the ground real noisy?

Took the missus out for a swing at Amherst on Wednesday. Frosty morning turned into a beautiful day but the gold was scarce for the SDC. Tried a couple of spots and ended up with two tiny pieces that made just .07 of a gram. Annie dug a lot of junk and ground noise with the Gold Racer but thoroughly enjoyed the day.
At the expense of annoying some the gram still alludes me, so I have now invested in a GPX 5000, an Advantage Nugget Finder 14x9" mono and a 12" Evolution Nugget Finder coil, Booster, spare battery and assorted extras. Now I can works some deeper ground and go over some old spots that produced small stuff, plus that whole world of new deeper ground I could only dream about.
I know this will have been done to death but if someone could give me some settings for the detector and the Evo coil I would much appreciate it.

Can't really help with 5K settings BillS (aside from 'baseline' 4K equivalents), but if you get to Maryborough, give a call-out, and we can get out and fix your 1g problem.BillS said:

Went out for a bit of training with the 5000 today at Lamplough. Had it all, rain, wind, a bit of distant lightning, wind and freezing for much of the day. The ground was pretty tame but there was a lot of ground noise to contend with due to the wet.
Managed a piece at about 5 inches not much bigger than the SDC would find but the area has been hammered so I was happy to see how the 12 inch Evo coil will still pick up little bits.
