Just wondering if anyone did the Long Point to Hill End Macquarie river crossing over the Long weekend and if so what was the crossing like?
Thinking of taking the young fella up to Hill End to do some prospecting this weekend

Agree with everything that has been mentioned already. Winzes (shafts inside adits to connect to lower levels) are extremely dangerous particularly if debris has partly obscured the shaft...be careful next time you step over logs or rubbish inside a tunnel. Another caution is highly cleaved or...
Mate thats looks like a typical weathering rind of a basalt and its fine groundmass certainly suggests it too!
Basalts are generally weakly to strongly magnetic due to ferromag mineral content
Whilst you arent going to learn anything gold related the deadwood tv series is a fantastic look into the early days of a town that sprung up during a gold rush
Plenty of guys panning and prospecting drinking fighting faunicating etc etc

When you say piece of tin do you mean as in a sheet of metal?
If so its probably been used in an electrolytic recovery process for copper or its been sitting in mine waters hence the CuCaO3 minerals

You can always use other pathfinder elements such as bismuth cobalt silver etc have a look back through your assays and see if higher arsenic correlates with other elements that are elevated ...over here in nsw in the central west exploring for shear hosted structurally controlled systems high...

really looking at grabbing one locally around the central west (im in orange)
My four yr old son has also taken a liking to panning so its just another way to get...
I was lucky enough to touch the reef directly below where the holterman nugget came from at hill end in the amalgamated mine!!
But in all seriousness be careful people but dont let it discourage you from having a look just let people know where you are
