Just wondering which is the best screen protector for the CTX 3030, there are a few out there to choose from. Can't believe how easilly the screen scratches. Anyway I need one pretty quick.

Thanks

I am really surprised that Minelab don't offer any covers for the CTX, either way, if you want one really quick, Coiltek in Maryborough do a screen cover and visor for the CTX.

Hey GP, I ordered one this morning. The fellow I spoke to said that if any dirt gets under it the screen will be scratched even worse than without one. What he suggested was to get a smartphone/tablet screen protector and cut it to size before using the protective cover.

I did that also today, was a total PITA but I did it and it worked very well. I used "Zagg Invisible Shield" and it seems to sit nicely on the screen. Bought the "Original" one for tablets so it left me with a lot spare in case I need another. You just need to measure it up and cut it out with a stanley knife (and ruler for straight edges) to size and follow the instructions. It peels off again when wanted without leaving residue also.

Seems a lot of CTX owners in the USA have done it and recommend it. There is a company called "Nushield" as well and they make the same stuff for CTX and Etrac's. http://www.nushield.com/

Anyway I'm happy.

I've been using a full set of covers for both the Explorer and Etrac (purchased from the Ukraine), and also have clear laminate on the screens to prevent scratching (Samsung tablet screen cover cut to size). The Ukraine covers fit very well, especially the control box cover which fits nice and tight over the screen vs the crappy Minelab Etrac cover which had a ridiculously loose fit making it a real pain to press any of the buttons. When I sold the Explorer, it was still in excellent condition thanks to the covers, and the screen was still like new.

I do recommend purchasing a full cover set for your CTX, they really do offer good value for money by retaining resale value, protecting against the usual scratches and knocks to the control box, body and shaft when in the field. Though it does pay to remove the covers from time to time to give them a good clean out to prevent scratching, and to ensure any zippers/velcro still functions properly. :)

Haven't used it yet mate, been pretty busy with other stuff, I highly recommend the "nvisible Shield" laminate though, I'll put the cover on today and post back later.

I got a cheep Screen protector from a cheap shop.

Cut to size and Presto all done and a few spares for $3.

Was going to take the Control screen in to my local Phone repair place and see if they may have a better quality or even a Glass screen to fit..

Any link for these covers gold pick ? I'm interested
Or name ect
Cheers

I think this was the same seller, does a full set for the CTX. The Ukrainian covers don't have any real padding to them, purely made to keep mud/off and prevent scratching, I'd still recommend to use a clear cover on the screen itself underneath the outer cover. I also recommend to give the covers a good wash every now and again, as they are never 100% impervious to dirt, and can scratch the shaft/plastics if continually left in a dirty state.

There are also some US made covers that consist of thicker & possibly more padded material, though the exchange rate and postage makes them pretty pricey. :)
