Wow, there's been a few good posts on big goldie hunts recently, well done - who said there are no good hunting spots left, I beg to differ. :)

There are some great spots left. However I didn't find one today. I went home with $5...

At least you are out there trying, some days suck whilst others are a real bonanza. Certainly won't find much sitting at home in front of the computer (like I am now) - all these finds are egging me on to go for a detect. ;)

Went back to the hills today for 3 hours where I had great luck with pre-decimals the last two hunts. It's an unusual sloping old oval and all the coins seem to in 1/4 of the bottom end.

Found my 6th florin from this place and two other silvers, 13 pennies, 3 half pennies, $14 goldies, two million 1/2 cents and two great silver rings in the same hole.

The police came past on patrol and stopped for a chat, they liked my amry issued sniper rifle... :p

Bonus on the two silver rings in the same hole, good to find a predec spot that hasn't been pilfered before - lucky you didn't aim the ctx "rifle"at the police. :D

Yes it's quite difficult ground, I suspect a few have tried but given up due to the mineralised soil. I even tried here about 2 months ago and left empty handed and in horror. Only returned the other week on a chance passing.

Yeah still not sure if they were called or just random patrol, either way they were very nice and interested.

Nice finds...and a nice looking spot :Y: :D

Sure is, it's 560m above sea level and full of trees. It's history stems from being a "weekender" area in the early 1900s.
