I been trying for a while to get Sturt Peas going in the wheatbelt. I finally brought back some red dirt from the goldfields and success. The soil needs to be slightly acidic (i think) It was easier to bring home some red dirt..

I'll post more photos when they flower.

That much in the garden I couldn't tell if the possum was eating anything lol.
secret is to put the scraps under a tree so day or night the fight is on to protect what's there by the alpa birds and animals thus keeping most things at bay whilst the protectors (read free workers) are well fed. :p

Anyhoo.... mangos thawed over night (yesterday now lol)

So these will be the pandemic batches.... last lot was in Feb this year back when life was all carefree abandon... and there's only half a bottle of that left from then (I did end up giving way too much away lol)

maybe not this time O:)

I'm saving seed from my latest snowpeas for next year.... looking good.
Reminds me I need to cut my asparagus down too.... I've seen a couple of new shoots in there already.

There are a few dairies around here.
I am sure you can obtain some well composted dirt from them. :)
Mix with some Bega River loam.
Dynamite stuf. LOL

HL what do you do with the stinging nettles (in your first photo)?

Boiled up makes a tonic for nervous dogs.

EVIE/BEE, I usually just till it back into the soil. I have tried making tea from it but I found it to be pretty normal despite the "health" benefits from it. One day i will try eating it but could not be bothered so far.
Wish I could get rid of the bugger but it seems it is here for good now.

If you are local and want any let me know but most of it is out now.

EDIT: just saw you are in WA :)

I talk to the mother possum every time she happens to out from the roof and she just sits and pretends to listen then moves on to whatever is most important to her. :)

My mother used to talk to the animals.. :| :|

We have water lizards romping around the yard all the time. If you stop and start talking to them they always tilt their heads like dogs do when being spoken to . All the swooping birds do not swoop us as they know we aren't a danger to them.. It's a beautiful world at times.
