The crust stuff is coming off with thumb scrapes,....all that lovely patina was hidden beneath a veil of thin black solid rock hard dirt type stuff, the heads side still has some adhering to it yet Goldpick.

And im very envious of those older silvers but im with GP... Britania's are beautiful looking coins , cant wait to find a really good one myself.

Some very nice and interesting finds there Silver. Love the pre 1900 coins.

Thanks Sandta, those oldies were all in the one area, in a line(old track ?),...I had to think outside the box a bit to get that shilling(1868) as it was the last of the old three to come to light,.... I just lined up the first two and kept scanning, hoping it was a straight track all those years ago,... and sure enough 4 meters on from the Sixpence(1873) there it was,....just waiting for me(waiting to be exposed).
And the Irish Harp,.... well I would have popped that strait in the old gob and twanged it if only the centre twanger hadn't rusted away over time !
The badges were easy digs as the loader took off the first 4inches of dirt for me.

Yes, I found interesting things and took him to the mining and found a nugget of 1.5 grams. I was using a small coil GARRETT super sniper.

Okay, today in my change at the local post office I got this nice looking 50c piece(so it was sort of like a hunt)
In the 2010 guide(aussie coins and banknotes) it lists as $6.00 for uncirculated.....so for 35 years someone else took care of this coin for me(I'd like to say thank you for that),...sure its not perfect, but, in another 30 - 40 years this coin will be a little bit harder to find in this condition and may hold a bit more value than 50c,....in so saying, inflation may well make any profit margin in the negative if you compare it with what I could buy today with it and even what you could buy with it in 1981,....it would have been far better to probably spend it again today instead of being caught out holding onto it and having 50c less in the pocket to spend now(when I need it),....and having to cart it around for 40 years only to find out that no one wants it and lollys are actually $1.00 each(making it worthless),...Oh well,...I'll still hang on to it anyway,...just incase(haha).

Ha Ha so true for your coin along with the other 19,999,999 which were minted.
The little hunts all add up. I have started looking more at the coins i get in my change. Didn't realise there where so many variations in our modern coins. Printed out a guide with all the various coins minted. Had a thought of trying to collect one of each variety.
Now that WILL keep you busy Ramjet---

Not a bad start. I expected to find pennys in this new spot but nothing. Ulat least your finding something. Could be a pence or florin next tine

Well,...in fact I did go out again and a Florin was the find of the outing
1953 Florin(you were right on the money Treasureman) and a 1942d threepence
Some kind of huge military shell base(top) Australian military forces button(bottom left) and a commemorative QE2nd 1935 ?coronation medallion(toasted)(bottom right).

Nice effort, don't think I've ever seen so many florins pulled out of the ground as we have seen over the last few weeks. Can't complain about the variety of finds.
