I see the pictures on your profile, looks like the big guns are coming out when you see them side by side SD, will be good to see other things happening for you with it, although you do all right anyway as it is with what you had !

Tried hard to find more from the set(if it exists) but whoever was out playing only lost the one sailor, I was soked to find it though.

Hey SD you can appreciate Silvers finds as mine any day
Love that old ring you snagged SD ... Lift your game Silver ...your slipping further behind everytime a different person reads your post
Congrats on the new detector SD , im certainly liking mine a lot ;)
Who's thread is this anyway?
Very nice sailor
Well done Silver ( ooohh ... Its your thread) ;)

don't worry Sandta I'm still laughing too(lots while unable to wipe the smile off my face type laughing).

Well no Sovereighns or Sailors today Paulmarr(drat).

But I did have an interesting day out with old mate(Mrs is working today) lucky bastard got an 1875 token(old ipswitch one from QLD).
And with my ACE250 I got this full on lot of beauties.
1413539567_sam_4796.jpg

1413538850_sam_4795.jpg

A big hand full of prickles(our lot as detectorists)
And all for an old lead roofing nail(dam)
1413538957_sam_4794.jpg

On the upside though I did get a couple of silvers.
1413539063_sam_4791.jpg

I kept this one in my pocket for a while as I kept detecting, willing it to be an old Threepence.
1413539152_sam_4792.jpg

But alas and alack it turned out to be a 1943 Threepence(still 925 sterling silver at least).
1413539243_sam_4789.jpg

And the Florin turned out to be 1962(50% silver), still a Florin is a Florin after all, and enough to leave me happy as.
1413539384_sam_4793.jpg

sun was a getting a bit hot though(and I did get burned on the arms, back of the neck and the top of my ears)(bugger).

silvers for Silver.... Very fitting
Well done mate :)

Hoping to get out today and check out an old spot that I frequent that has undergone a few physical changes of late,... thinking it may have opened an olds section for me that has as yet never seen a coil, then again the old fellas may have already beaten me to the glory(haha)

Some nice finds there silver. I wonder how old that bent ring is. Looks 200 years old? Or 150 years. I also like the sailor. Quality toys back then. Lasting the test of time. Looking forward to your next seatch.

Looking for my finds to take pickies and post ,... but alas poor threepence I knew it well(sort of),... found near the iron sides of an old show grand stand(very very close),...was a wheaty I do recall,.. mrs Silver said, "was that your detecting finds"( I was still drinking Rose'), can't find them now, and mrs Silver is cutting Zzzzz's,..... could try waking her to find them, but hey, you'll just have to take my word for it this time(I'll owe you), she's not one to mess with in the middle of the night when it comes to fantasys like "hey wake up, have you seen my detecting finds", not gonna go down well I can tell you now !

Any way,.. it was an area that I(and 600 others) have done well,.. but no body had run their ACE250 up along the iron wall in all metal mode just to hear the razamataz of sounds with that little bit extra of high tone more than usual(the threepence hiding amongst all the nails and the overtones of the tin wall) which I promptly dug to REVEAL,..... the threepence of no particular beauty(other than its sssssssilver appeal),... but to cut a long story short, I dug up a threepence and it now belongs to me.
WAAAHOOOOO.

Well,... finally,... new month, and a new crack at the internet(ran out early(er) last month.
anyway I had a long time to search for that grand stand find.
so here it is proof positive !
The whole hunt.
1414851793_sam_5066.jpg

And the 925 silver threepence that was touching the iron of the grandstand(almost, just a smidgeon out).
1414851902_sam_5065.jpg

I did happen to get out a couple of other times since I ran out of internet juice as well, one hunt just the other day(Friday) had me on the old stuff(not rose' either).
so here is my old spot mixed with the modern thrown over the top of it.
1414852431_sam_5106.jpg

The irish harp, in amongst the old stuff level.
1414852501_sam_5105.jpg

The lucky horse shoe brooch, also down low.
1414852563_sam_5104.jpg

The thing I'm not sure of,.. also in the old level of finds.
1414852623_sam_5103.jpg

The pre decimals.
1414852705_sam_5102.jpg

The newer ones.
1943 Florin.
1414852776_sam_5101.jpg

And a 1939 roo halfpenny for all you coin pro's in the know !
1414852810_sam_5100.jpg

And the old ones.
1868 Shilling. That's 146 years(yeehaaa) old.
1414853035_sam_5099.jpg

1873 Sixpence.
1414853333_sam_5097.jpg

1883 Penny
1414853193_sam_5096.jpg

And the nuggies.
1414853516_sam_5095.jpg

This is what they look like inside,... too hard for lead, maybe old melted silver coins ?????
1414853538_sam_5094.jpg

Hope you enjoyed the hunt,.... I did.

And of course there was today, couple of goodies to show for it,... about 3 hours on the hunt.
1414853956_sam_5079.jpg

couple of old things.
Old drawer handle backing (nice though).
1414854015_sam_5076.jpg

St pat Goulbourn hat badge from the good od days(bet someone got the cuts for loosing that one)(and yes I did clean it).
1414854051_sam_5078.jpg

And a nice RAAF badge from when they musta just had gliders (yep,...that old).(not really)
1414854089_sam_5077.jpg

And as you can see I did get a few decimals(but stuff them).(only joking)
On to the predecimals(They count).
First up a 1916m Shilling.
1414858783_sam_5075.jpg

And a very nice 1924 Shilling
1414858815_sam_5074.jpg

followed by a 1938 threepence that should clean up quite nicely(even if I do say so myself).
1414858853_sam_5073.jpg

Had a few prospective MD operators following along to see if they would like to take up the hobby when they grow up.
