I recon that the copper has leached into solution until saturation point where it has started to precipitate out of solution ,.... silver is dull.

8) Only the one silver in there B5 :lol: , the rest are just copper or modern spendable decimal silvers, this was just to see what would happen over time to silver in a mix of coins in mollasus.

So what was the result, they looked like they dropped some of their crust 8)
I would have been worried the silver would turn copper pink

Well, to me, I'd say only the copper oxide was stripped away but no more than that, you can see on the 1922 penny that there is absolutely no patina, but the copper itself has not been stripped away like it would be with lime juice.

I'd say the bright bit is where the coins have slid against each other as I've moved them around during extraction from the bottle. 8)

Hey Silver..What would you recomend to clean the green stuff of pennys.

8) Looking like you could try Mollasus And Water (MAW) at 30 to 1 respectively ,.... not sure what the time frame would be, or the after MAW care yet. Not even sure if it would work without the other type coins too yet, but you could help me to experiment over time Smokey. You could try your coppers in MAW by themselves with copper only in there, and check it hourly at first, then daily for a week, and then weekly for a while to see if there is any obsevable faster change than yearly. Only if your up to the task though mate ! (no pressure inferred)

:8 ...please excuse the uneducated query, i mostly 'collect' certain coins (purchased, not 'finds), so i never usually 'do' anything with my 'collection'.

I am reading of the MAW trick,....and i got to thinking if a combination of that + electrickery may speed up the process without being to 'harsh' on the item in question?

Anybody ever tried as an experiment? (i don't have any use for 'molasses' myself, so none on hand to try and find out).
