Another Friday night beach hunt for Team Bogan - my partner in crime was working this evening so my daughter grabbed the Ace250 and came along for a rock digging session and here are the finds ...

And even a old three pence ... Which may clean up nicely

24 coins in all - 4 x large pennies, 4 x half pennies 8 x brown bugs 2x 20 cents 2 x 10 cents 1 x $1 and 1x $2 plus the two silvers plus the usual junk ...

Happy to get the silvers and we had a lot of fun!

Are you going to clean the 1920 or leave it? With any luck will shine up.
Looks like you guys were in the money zone.

Yup I will eventually clean it up Tresureman when time permits ...

Back out tonight with Team Bogan 2.0 (daughter with me again) and here are the finds ....

We found sinkers, lead, pull tabs and bottle caps along with 5 x brown bugs 2x large pennies - one is a 1916 - 3x 5 cents and 2 x six pence along with the gold ring a ding ...

Looks to be 1962 and 1950 something on the six pence ... Will need a second set of eyes to work out the gold carat too...

Gold baby ... Lots of fun and a great baptism for the daughter - a florin last night on the Ace250 - I think she is hooked! :)

How much are florins worth?

Depending on the date (90% vs 50% silver) they can be worth anything from $4-8 in scrap silver - the ones I find on the beach are quite worn and not worth anything to the collector.

Strike while the iron is hot they say ... And Team Bogan ventured out on a rainy night and got absolutely soaked! We got about ninety minutes in before pulling stumps and here are the finds ...

Fun? Yes but trying conditions - yesterday's gold motivating us on a night we would usually stay home in bed!

Morning all ... Father and son out for the evening stroll and here are the finds ...

The CTX got the ring but it isn't gold unfortunately although it is old ...

22 crusty coins and a lot of junk targets and don't forget the spoon - more fun tonight without the lightning and rain too :)

Gotta share this one - found this military button on the beach the other day ....

Anyhow my 5 year old grand daughter wanted to take something old to school for show and tell - and as I wasn't available - I gave her the button and told her "it's 100 years old, I found it on the beach and it's from the war."

So she took it to school and presented it to the class - "It's a war button from 100 years ago and Pa found it on the beach." The teacher asked "What war was it from?" (if it's 100 years old you would think she would know but the teacher is in her twenties 8) )

My grand daughter says "Star Wars" :)

I guess I can be thankful that she doesn't know what war is yet!

Geez ... reviving an old thread here - Team Bogan 2.0 dusted off the detectors and went out last night for a swing. We haven't been very motivated to go beach detecting due to the driest start for Winter in 10 years ... meaning none of the sand has shifted very much since Summer and our session last night confirms this. Luckily I live about a 5 minute walk to the beach so it is easy to keep an eye on the shifting sands ... when they eventually shift.

Here is the finds from last night....

A variety of targets - yes the junk varieties! No gold - but when I came across a cut in the sand and pulled this monster sinker I thought I may be in the gold neighbourhood!

I did find what i think is a piece of jewelry - either a large pendant or a small metal photo frame - and a piece of an earring

And a few bucks ...

Have only been going out once or twice a month ... hope that will change soon!! And of course enjoying all the posts from everyone else's hunts!

Certainly a vast difference in finds compared the previous winter. Pretty frustrating that conditions really haven't been conducive to finding the older/heavier stuff for such a long time now, unlike on the eastern coast. Here's hoping for a couple of decent winter storms to get the Bogan team back into the gold again. :)

Caught a looter today on MY beach! How dare he!

seal%2001_zpsie02wsui.jpg

Closer look ... he is a big bugger so I better not try to have a word with him ...

seal%2002_zps5tkxd5b9.jpg

I reckon he was a bit lost - Kangaroo Island is his home and he is about 50ks too far north - a great site to see though! I wonder what the resident dogs and dog walkers thought? Better not leave Fido off the lead!

Down to the beach we go ... Team Bogan out for a rare night of detecting after a blow to see what has shaken out and here are the finds ...

Nothing to write home about ... 39 coins and a bit of junk, a few sinkers and no gold....

Did manage to bag 9 silvers - 2 Florins - 2 shillings - 3 six pence and 2 three pence but it will take a bit of cleaning to work out exactly what dates they are ...

All in all a fun night out - the CTX pulled more targets tonight but the Sov got most of the silver ... :)
