Nyngan has about 2500 people according to.the sign that hasnt changed since i was a boy.
Trangie has about 1000. Last time i wascat Nyngan we saw a guyvdetecting bybthe river. My guess was a traveller from the caravan park having a swing.

Out with the Rocket and another local today. First site was not much good with only 1 penny plus BBs and a couple of goldies for me. I did get a little dose of Karma though. I spied a syringe case laying on the ground and thought I should do the right thing and dispose of it properly just in case it had anything sharp still in it. I picked it up and looked inside and BOOM a $50 note. Made my day.
We moved on to a site we have been too a few times and it is very challenging to say the least. Lots of coke, (not the drink, the cooked coal), which the Deus doesn't like too much. I managed plenty of pennies but the small silvers that must be there remained elusive. Every time I dug what I thought could be silver it was just trash. Even the pennies and BBs give scratchy signals at this site. Got my standard '47 florin towards the end of the hunt.

I think the ring is a junker with the 18 being a size maybe.

Good karma alright, well done on the $50. I looked at the ring and instanly thought 18k, no k though....... oh well, you still had a good day. :D

Well done RJ. Reminds me of the day my father in law, wife and I went walking up Shafston Ave Kangaroo Pt. in Brisbane and we came across a spill of $20 notes. I picked up about $180 and the FIL picked up $60 i think. We had a great night out that day.

Pity about the circumstances, though hard to ignore an opportunity when it arises. I wonder how many people would own detectors around your hometown?

At least 1 on this forum ;) :D

Sorry to hear Mr Jet, been to 2 in the last 5 months myself.

It's great to turn a negative into a positive when possible though. :)

Billy.

Thanks Billy. We do take the opportunity to catch up with family and friends. WE used to think nothing of making the trip when younger but don't make the effort often enough these days.

We have one of the grandkids staying a few days and lucky for me he loves detecting. Though his only interest in what is in the ground is Goldies and worms. LOL. I let him decide where we detected so needless to say we just wandered around aimlessly. He did OK on the goldies and we both had a good time so win, win. :D All the goldies we find together go into a little treasure box in my safe for him to save.
I thought I had a wrist watch but after a wash I am not sure what it is. a large M on one side.

Had a mate in town from Qld so met up with him, Greg and Lonely Silver for a day's diggin. It was a great day out and we even managed to find a couple of coins. My best find was an nice 1859 threepence. It is now my 2nd oldest silver coin. An interesting cartridge and a Hotwheels T bird as well.

Hard to pick a find of the day. Rocketaroo got 3 florins and a sixpence in a nice coin spill and his first complete toy gun, though it is broken all the pieces are there.

Karl dug an 1885 shilling and a badge with the Lion and Unicorn coat of arms and a 1945 Victory medallion.

A great day out.

I have posted Karl's finds as well

What a haul, the threepence has some great detail to it for an oldy. Was this a new location or a previously detected area? :)
