Thanks for the congrats everyone. It really was a top day. Today we took 2 grand kids back to their parents. Of course the detector was in the car. While mum and daughter congratulated each other on a fine wedding I snuck in a quick hunt :D

My first Australian armed forces badge and a "42 thrip eye the highlights. The bent roo penny was partly exposed. Too many BBs tho :|

Great finds ramjet!

Stopped on my way home from night shift for a quick swing in a playground. I'd been there maybe half an hour and had moved out of the play area to see if any pre decs would show up. A council worker came over and asked if I had found a gold ring. Apparently a lady had lost one a couple of weeks ago and had gone to the council general manager and he got the ground staff to rake through the bark to try find it. No luck. So I went back to the area and spent over an hour digging every signal I could detect. Even when I get the location of a ring I still can't find it. 8.( 8.( It may be like a lot of others and not where she thought she'd lost it. I'll have to see if the Ringmaster, Rocket is interested in having a look.

Anywho here are my finds. All the small bits of foil I dug looking for the ring. Nothing too exciting but the New Guinea coin is another new foreign coin for me.

Out with Rocket again. Firstly I apologize to Silver for destroying one of his beautiful coins. Sorry. I scratched about 6 coins today so the lesson is when digging really deep targets start with a wider hole.

First 3 pics are from site one which we had high hopes for but was just full of modern trash. 2 hours and not 1 pre decimal. The only interesting find is the ID tag. I think maybe it's military?

The 2nd spot had a much better treasure to trash ratio. Almost every coin was 6+ inches deep. 1 nice thrip and a couple of florins to top off a steady flow of pennies. I got a penny and 2 half pennies in a mini spill and Rocket got 3 pennies in his little coin spill.

gotta love a honey hole :) Dont worry Silver, I really took RJ to task, over wrecking a lovely, nearly 100 year old florin, that had sat safe for many decades, until it was snatched, by a very careless Florin Finger! lol We dug deep today, and were well rewarded :)

It's all good. I got plenty more :D Maybe the swinelab doesn't detect florins?

gday Ramjet
My mistake his 237038 serial number would place him joining some time in the late 70s at a guess.
He could have been an Infantryman, if you were serching around the Singlton area, as that is the location of the School of Infantry.
Mind you he could have been a cook , a medic , a signal operator etc
Not much else to go on but whats contained on the tag.
Name:Muller V
Religion:Roman Catholic
Blood type: O positive
