Hi Guyz,

Just some opal projects I have been doing. I have a lapidary topic going for any questions related to lapidary - this is just more show casing opal in all its forms.

All have been done by myself - if you have instagram opal_empire_australia is me.

Gday mate thanks,

this is mainly boulder and white opal - my black levels is a little low - its so expensive and can be dangerous to cut as it can crack easily. Bam - $$$ lost.

Hey guyz just another update.

Some interesting pieces - ones a large ironstone with colour through it. Pretty cool blues through it.

The second is a piece of boulder ironstone with blue and greens colour all the way through it.

I woulda loved to cut that one.

Pardon my ignorance but that is opal in the iron stone isn't it. I didn't know opal was found in iron stone.

Yes it is, koroit and yowah are famous for their opal that can be found in iron stone. One of the most famous is the yowah nut.

Gday jukebox that sure is an amazing collection .. I lived in andamooka for 3 months and noodled when i could. Absolutely loved it , the chase and the opal. I now plan on doing many trips to lightning ridge over the coming years onthe same ideas noodling and maybe my own hole one day just to obtain a large rough collection ill sit down and cut one day! Love your work...did u find all your collection and are the boulder opal fields hard noodling? Or will u find stuff if u put the work in? Cheers dane?

Gday Dane,

The boulder fields digging is very much so turning over your own virgin dirt, its pretty hard as its not noodling and you have to know what you are looking for. Some older sites up north have all workings which you can go through.

Like all mining success doesnt always equal effort - often its very much so about luck
.
Jukey

Do you come across any crystal material with play of colour ? I'd be interested in buying some rough . I like your boulder opal , very appealing , yet not what is needed for what I do :) what's your favorite polish for that ?
