Hi guys,

The nasty Covid has resulted in me being out of work and I thought I might take the opportunity to ask if any of you might know of someone that would allow me to stay on their property to prospect.

I have everything I need as I live out of my van. I dont wish to be locked away while all this gets sorted so if any of you know how I can stay busy prospecting please let me know? I would be happy to pay to stay on a property that has a creek I can go panning.

Thanks guys.

That covers all of Australia...have a nice home holiday. :(

Is there any leeway to go out locally for exercise etc. Im sure the joggers and bikes will be hoping to do that sort of thing still to get their ninimum exercise. Am pretty sure that sort of stuff is still happening in victoria

Excersize is fine... I exercise using a detector...

I would hope its possible as long as you dont socialise while detecting. I think stage 3 measures will be more clear on exercise locally

Exercising locally in small groups maintaining social distancing is fine - at the moment.
I've seen where they have encouraged families to get out for a walk etc.
If they start getting people travelling out of their immediate local area on the pretense of "exercise" then the next stage of restrictions will become a reality pretty quickly. Nobody will like them!
To be honest at this stage if you can detect fairly close to home, say within ~10-20-30km?, without a need to travel through any other towns or villages then you may still be ok. There's no concrete guidelines though but they are asking for commonsense - which is very lacking these days.
Travelling an hour or two away from home through other towns & villages will IMO be deemed NOT OK, regardless of how isolated or minimal any contact with others may be. They simply don't want people meandering about all over the place & won't be prepared to have different rules for different activities.

Exercise is fine - and I doubt that a not too long trip to stay indefinitely on land where they will let you prospect is a problem. But if so, prepare to hunker down. One has to think of the spirit of the law - if you are with one or so other people on a large patch of private land, you are less than a risk on the streets. And there are currently no regulations preventing that, although they may have to do it in future as a broad brush approach to getting people off the roads and inside. Also to stop them being a burden on rural food supplies.

In my experience there are quite a few people with no permanent home but just a caravan that they travel around in - they have closed caravan parks so I hope they allow for them. I notice that the pollies tend to think in terms of their own conventional, urban lifestyles. On one hand they talk about concern of backpackers being insufficient to pick this year, on the other they close down anywhere they can stay.

I don't know why you want to bend the Laws in the first place, If you catch that bloody virus or give it to someone in your home I bet you'll wish you had listened. :N:

Not trying to bend the rules. Just trying to clarify the finer details

I think it is a case of deciding where "home" is for the next six months. Then not moving without very good reason.

Surely one month would be enough if everyone complies.why do you think 6 months? Does the virus lay dormant for months or something?

Burto. If home is your van and someone is willing to allow you to stay somewhere on their property and you plan on remaining in the one place until such time that we are allowed to freely move again - good luck to you. Many of us would be jealous of you having that freedom.

Hopping about the place from spot to spot would be a little frowned upon.

Best of luck finding some work. A decent sized farm might even provide you with some jobs for the use of a shearing shed for power, water, a small wage, etc.

I can't see an issue with wandering around out in the open we'll away from people as l did today.
I had one guy stop about 20 feet away from me for a chat, no one within cooee for several hours
As long as you don't drop into unnecessary places on your way there and back and no interactions
Things may change in the future.
Common sense says no unnecessary travel is for extended travelling where you would have to stop buy food petrol interact with others putting yourself and others at risk.

The risk is shopping not detecting

The way I understand it is that every day that new cases are diagnosed, we are at least two weeks away from beating it. This is complicated if they are unable to verify the source and subsequent contacts. So, if you want to go bush, you need to take into account that you need supplies for the long run. Good luck.

Our medical advisor in our Club, a doctor, is saying that they are looking at it very similar to the Spanish Flu of 1918, which apparently came in 3 waves and lasted 2 years..
