Newbie from Brisbane

Hi there, I'm a newbie here from Brisbane who is keen on detecting in and around SEQld (Warwick, Gympie, Gold Coast). I've been tossing up between getting a second hand GM 1000 or a Xterra 705 dual pack as I am keen on doing both gold detecting and coin detecting. Keen on any advice from anyone who has used these detectors around here.

Hi bc, I think you'll need a PI detector if you go out there. Xterra only good for relics really.

Hi Jaros, I used to detect (hired a detector) a bit around Mt Magnet in WA before moving to Brisbane, it was very much PI country out there. I have been seeing GM 1000 reviews and they seem to be doing okay on the smaller pieces down in Vic. Is the country highly mineralised around here?

There are some topics in Warwick area. It's just that it has been well worked over and that's the reason for the PI.

Yeah I bet it has hahah. I see you've got a 705 gold, whats your opinion of it overall?

Its a very nice relic hunter with the right coil. i have a Minelab Xterra 15" DD coil--7.5 khz.

Yeah it seems like one of the better coin/relic detectors but sounds like not much chop on the gold. Wondering then how the Gold Monster goes with the coins etc
