I was planning to use some different weights of lead for test samples to try different settings and depths using a GPX5000 with standard 11" mono coil, what would be a comparable weight to weight ratio eg: .1g lead for ?g gold to give the same indication or is it gram for gram?

They're roughly comparable, but nuggets come in weird shapes, and so will likely give totally differing signals.
Try detecting using a buckshot (not birdshot) which you should be able to detect to around 4 inches in Fine Gold and around 3" in Enhance.
If you find buckshot, then you're generally doing fine.
