Lead /amalgam? ?

Found this today at an area well known for producing a lot of gold . Looks and feels like lead but wondering whats with the hole that has obviously been made with a nail.. pretty ugly necklace if thats what its for layful:

Looks like a hand-made plumb bob weight, useful for sinking hand dug vertical shafts, etc

if it is a plumb bob for digging shafts that's really cool, don't see them every day..... square...ish nail hole too.

Well the detector was screaming at me so i thought it would be rubbish. Wasnt too surprised to see lead but then i saw the hole in it..... thought it might be something
