Goldpick's 2019 XP Deus finds

With the success of the previous trip, I was eager to see what coinage was still in the ground given the amount of predecs I had found initially. I wasn't disappointed, running the Deus discrimination up to knock out most common junk, I simply chased high conductors all night - and there were plenty of them. Ended up with 22 silvers, two full houses, some petrol money, and a ton of BB's over the course of 6 hours.

I was happy to see a pair of florins unearthed (1914, 1946) considering they robbed me of a full house last trip. The odd coin out was an 1879 sixpence in mear mint condition, there are probably some deeper/older coins to be had, though just chasing the shallower targets at this stage. Was also interesting to see all six shilling were rams heads vs the older ones. arty:

The legs are like jelly this morning, taking it easy today and not looking forward to the impending hot weather. I gave the silvers a wash and light wet bicarb rub, most of them came out great, once again that vic sixpence is a beauty.

Another successful outing under the belt, same spot as previous and with similar results minus some BB's and less goldies. Hadn't been there long and was already cruising towards a full house thanks to the 1917 florin, just needed a shilling to round things off - ended up with another 5 including one from 1914! layful:

Amazingly I ended up with 22 silvers, the same number of silvers as per previous hunt and 44 predecs all up - junk wise I only dug 4 or 5 bottle caps, some copper wire and a couple of ring pulls.

Oldest coin was another Egnlish silver, a 1905 Edward threepence, also picked up another gold Victorian Pony club pin.

All the coppers are a bit toasted, 3/4 of which are Commonwealth coinage, thought I did well to find the other half of the mower cut 2c .

That's the usual type of hunt for me outside of relic sites. I've only had two exceptional sites this year that have really produced on the silver front, the other was the now defunct racecourse that produced over 60 silvers.

Back to sneak in another hunt before the year is out, same spot as previous though this time with the 11" coil fitted over the 9" hf. It's been so long since I had used any of the larger coils that I initially had trouble pinpointing targets, it also reminded me of how good the quality of the tones are on the hf vs the LF coils.

Anyway, not a bad night with another full house - oldest coin was a bun head Victorian penny and the oldest silver was the shilling, despite not being able to read the date on it. Did better on the goldies this time around, though unfortunately cleaned up on the ever present BB's. The signet ring is yet another junker, the large silver pendant is missing the front cover, though thankfully I got the half with the hallmark. I think have now totalled around 174 silvers for the year, so probably my best year so far with a majority of them coming from only two sites. I gave the silvers a bit of a clean and posted them up, still got one cruddy sixpence still soaking.

Since I didn't get much for Christmas other some T-shirts (sigh), and Anaconda have the Equinox 600 down to $799, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to rejoin the multi-frequency brigade once again. Being a past user of the Explorer SE Pro and Etrac, it will interesting to see how it performs on the sites around here, plus it always good to have another toy to play with.

Thanks mate, I went through a couple of scoops before settling on a full stainless one that would cope with digging amongst rocks. Most of the others either bent or split along the welds, and the handle sockets were also a weak point. Hopefully I'll get some beach detecting my belt with the Nox this summer, as long as I don't have to detect through 2m of seaweed. :argh:
