just wondering if anybody has done any fossicking around milla milla , palmerston innisfail area found some garnets ,saphires and some other stones that look like obsidian but when u shine a light through them on a certain angle they are a lime green . just wondering if anybody has any ideas on what it might be

not atm its in the tumbler but u cant tell it apart from the obsidian unless u shine a torch through it on a certain angle

In the book "How and where to find Gemstones" edited by Bill Myatt there is a brief mentioning of a near transparent, leaf green form of obsidian that is highly valued for gem cutting. Also some dark obsidian can display green-brownish tones in thin section.

Might be worth looking into.

Hey Atomrat, have you found that tin mine yet? Was near there today, found this piece of tourmalated quartz. Just wondering if that could be a sign of more precious gems being in the area?
