Equinox 600 gold detecting tips

Hi guys.

Just purchased my first detector and I know it's not exactly the best choice for the job but I was hoping someone could point me to a forum for tips on setting up the nox 600 to better be able to find gold. I will eventually be putting a 6" coil on it for crevices but any links, tips and knowledge would be very much appreciated.
