G'day Keith, and others with PF
My wife had serious PF for many years and saw every specialist under the sun and tried all sorts of treatment to no avail. I lost count of how many orthotics she had made, how many types of podiatry shoes she tried, and quarter zone injections, etc, etc.
However she did find a cure.
We can highly recommend the Foot Posture Centre 99 Mahoneys Rd Forest Hill Vic.
They fixed her.
The physician, John, would not give up on her condition.
Whilst he's a little quirky he nailed it.
In short it was a mechanical problem, and possibly slight dietary, as Diggit referred to. By taking X-rays John could show us that my wife's feet were out if alignment. They angled out an tilted in. He told us what the correct angles should be and acceptable tolerance. John taught her how to walk correctly, physically manipulated her feet multiple times a week, and gave her a boot to wear at evenings. Slowly the feet corrected within acceptable angle tolerances and the pain started to go and eventually left all together. It took about a year, but it did work. In short it was physio on the feet. Regular manipulation to get them to learn the new and correct alignment.
We did have to sign up to a package deal of treatment, which at first sounded like a con, but the technical and mechanical explanation and treatment plan all made a lot of sense and we coughed up the dough ........ more out of desperation and thinking it was our last chance for a cure.
As I say it fixed her.
During the process she also addressed dietary issues. Apparently high sugar diets can cause inflammation. So she cut back on sugars and also took a course of anti-inflammatory drugs and also herbal inflammatory stuff. The boot made the biggest difference, but we are confident it was the combined treatments that made it all come together.
So if your're not getting cured Id highly recommend you see John.
Good luck.

Oh ....... the boot she wore contradicted the video above. It stretched the calf muscles and tendons.
I expect different people will have different causes and therefore have different treatment. My wife's condition was chronic PF, so bad the restricted mobility was causing depression.
John was the only physician who seemed to adequately explain the condition and what the treatment needed to be. As I say it made a lot of logical sense and why we forked out the money and stuck with it. We nearly bailed after 3 months, but decided to hang in there with the treatment, and she is so glad she did.

Great story Dig'n-it sounds like you were at your wit's end. I hope I never need to contact John but it amazes me how difficult it is to find the right person some times.

It's a bit late to try and "cure" this problem, I was diagnosed with flat feet when I was about 8 or 10 years old  geeze that's a long time ago ;)
The only thing that I've found that comes close to fixing the problem is to strap my feet, 20 years ago that was easy, but as time has rolled on my flexibility has diminished a bit and the belly has enlarged a tad so strapping my feet is now almost a two person job and Bronny doesn't have a foot fetish ( love to hear from any gorgeous young chicks that do :p )

Update
5th visit to the chirop foot person for another adjustment on the orthotic fiendishly pain inducing shoe insert thingo's
I might be able to walk :Y: again, I can hardly feel them in my shoes, no pain atm, tomorrow will be the test day, going to the park with the dawg about 400 metres , but that's 200 metres further than today

Hi xc I also had flat feet as a kid had to wear orthotics hard to get used to but helped for me .I only wear boots or shoes with a heel that has heelped me. Good luck

Well the feet still aren't real good 8.( got really pissed off today with the bloody orthotics, had them adjusted about 5 times now and still not right, so I think I had a brain wave  yeah I know, doesn't happen very often.
1/ get heat gun from shed
2/ get thick piece of ply from shed
3/ take off shoes
4/ leave socks on (very important )
5/ place ply on floor
6/ place orthotic on ply
7/ take to orthotic with heat gun
8/ when the orthotic is very hot, stand on it ( remember the socks ? ) with about 3/4 weight untill just warm through the sock
9/ repeat with other foot
10/ bung the orthotics into the shoes and try them (not quite right, repeat 6,7 ,8 and try again)

Worked well for today  tomorrow I may just be   all over again

Hey x, have you looked at those Kuru shoes that I recommended to Hermann and you awhile back. They have saved my foot pain big time ( plantar fasciitis).

I have had a look at them, but I'm very hesitant about buying shoes anywhere online, there's just too many variables in the sizing, especially in the width, but I will have another look, thanks OA
