I've just seen this on a facebook page, folding shovel for $3.99 @ Aldi. I'm guessing this a catalog special item so better get in quick.

If anyone picks one up please let us know.

Hi nugget
Got two today for $2.99 each(at aldi).I got a ridge rider which is almost identical from super cheap a while ago for about $10/$15.I think the ridge rider is a bit thicker in the spade section but hey for $2.99 great for 4wd digs :)

Hey thanks lucky for letting me know, I meant to drop into Aldi's today and take a look, $2.99 is an even better deal so I'll definitely head down tomorrow and pick some up, maybe they'll give me a further discount for buying 3?

After bending my shovel that my folks gave me for park digging, I went to the flee markets today and found a nice solid and thick steel shovel for $5.00. It's used but still in good nick and is about half a meter tall

Cheers, yeah it's not the lightest but its not overly large. The last one i had was really light but had a wooden stock so it wasn't solid.

I think it was originally removable but some has welded it as one piece. I was looking to see if I could find a pick axe that wasn't too big but no luck.

Me and the old man just finished the beach shovel.

Now waiting for my 4 days off starting Monday :)

I like your shovel ramjet. I saw nuggets and he mentioned bunnings. So went down and grabbed one then to it to my folks place. I didn't want to put too many holes in it as I didn't want to loose the strength in the plastic. I have been watching Frederick Barnes on YouTube and tried to go with his design.

Great looking shovel mate.

I think your definitely going to need a few more holes, it shouldn't affect the strength too much. Mines still tough as, although I'm not sure if the point on yours weakens it any.

Inspired by Nugget's post I had a look on fleabay.
Was lucky enough to get my "food grade" shovel for 50 cents, plus $6 delivery.
Not sure how it compares to the Bunning's model for strength.
Haven't been back to the beach since I added the extra holes.
Still seems as strong as it was originally.

Looks like ill need to test mine out and see if I need any more. It's my mk1 version and will need to make another so dad has one too. What did you search for on eBay to find hat white one?

We have the same shovel and have a lot more holes, still holds it strength pretty good.

Since I last posted this I managed to pick up a steel beach scoop on eBay Australia for $140. It's an Indiana prime and a lot easier to use than the shovel I bought. I donated it to palmarr :)
