My finds today pale in significance to what the guys are finding in the Eastern states, though local sites will only give up so much. The location was ex-housing sites from the 40's/50's, yet another well hunted area that is still producing the odd coin (and damned BB's). :D

Spent most of the time detecting opposite the actual house sites vs detecting over ground that has been pummeled previously, it paid off with a few predecs though most of the the was spent plucking BB's. One target which for the life of me I couldn't locate with the pinpointer, turned out to be a bottle cap stuck on the end of the Deteknix digger.

Was great weather for a change, and a relaxing arvo. :)

Good to see you get amongst the coins mate,I found a broken clutch lever as well over the weekend, though being on an old motocross track,it was kind of cheating :D

Those coppers and silvers seem to have held up well judging by the terrain GP. Got to admire your tenacity to get your dig on.

Nice little hat trick of threepence there :Y: plus plenty of interesting copper and other stuff as usual.

I must say that ground look the dream for digging on,really nice

Another top effort :)

Back to a house site that dates back to the mid 1800's, picked up some later silvers including a key date 1915 thrip and some pretty crusty sixpences. Oldest coins were the Victorian 1865 penny, and a damaged large 1850's penny (whopper 96 signal), plus I picked up a good range of musket/pistol balls highlighting the age of the site. :)

Seriously, ever time I look at your posts I feel like I am visiting a museum and it's for FREE

Really nice post + sweet old pennies + silvers :Y:

Thanks :)

First night detect for a long time given the great weather. Hit a different location for a change that had some age to it, not knowing where to start I simply started detecting around some trees opposite to where I parked, and that is where most of the coins came from. Half pennies included 1916, 2 x 1927, & 1938, pennies included 1927, 1940, 1948 & 1952. The silvers were a welcome site, been a long time between drinks on the ramshead shillings, plus the florin always brings a smile to the dial.

Dug very little junk, even when going purely on the tones alone in the dark. All the predecimals were easily identifiable at depth using 18kHz and reactivity 3 (fulltones), certainly worth going back for another run. :)

Very different to your usual museum hunts with very little junk means you will certainly be going back :)

Those half pennies are nice and sharp + silvers

Top result :Y:

Yes, not an old house site, just a park area full of the usual suspect junk targets. One thing for sure, after doing house sites for a fair while now, coming back to park detecting feels easy in comparison - just grid up and cherrypick. ;)
