This afternoon I managed to get back on to a permission that we had only half detected, unfortunately the grass was knee high over most of the property, with most coins coming from a mowed section covering the width of the site. Still did pretty good on the coins - pennies include 1923, 1922, 1927, 1915, 1943, 1948 & 1952. HP's covered 1927, 1942, 1943 & 1947.
Only two silvers were recovered, two thrips from 1942 & 1943.

All the coins were quite deep, ended up running reactivity 2 and 8kHz on the 11" coil, even then the threepences were pretty scratchy tones - pretty much a case of digging any deep targets that pinpointed with a small cross section. One of the threepences came out of the hole along with some foil, that was a very mixed tone but still worth investigating. :)

The earth continues to give up it's treasures for all who are looking

Another nice hunt :Y:

Good hunt mate considering the circumstances :Y: ;)
Certainly no overgrown grass problems over this way
We've just had our first rain in over 6 months
Not quite enough to really even soften the ground below 2 inches , but very welcome non the less

We've still got long grass from all the rain we got last year, so any new grass is just adding to the issue. Problem is when the grass gets over a certain height, the sheep won't touch it on some of the areas I detect. I had the Deus running farely well flat out over the tall grass, still managed a single penny there despite not exactly getting the coil to ground - not to mention being very tiring on the arm. :)

Felt a bit lazy today being my birthday, ended up dragging myself out to a Victorian era site that I've hammered in the past for a couple of hours this arvo. Didn't expect to find too much, really need to dig anything that slightly resemebles a non-ferrous target due to prolific iron on this site, must say I am surprised to have found a couple of coins. The 1912 thrip was sitting on the edge of a rubbish pit, can't believe I'd missed that in the past, and the 1885 Vic penny was also a screamer, though I reckon that was disturbed from its resting place by heavy machinery recently.

One really cool find was a pretty scratchy target sitting amongst a few rusty nails in the hole, a very thin gold gilt jewellery piece that unfortunately didn't come out of the hole complete. Seems to be a flower theme going on here, as two other thin copper flowers were found not far from the gold gilt items. No field photos unfortunately, forgot to charge my damned phone.

Just going back over some posts to catch up, you've had some pretty nice hunts mate. Only a better man than me would hunt in that tall grass  happy birthdayGP.

I drove 30kms to get to that site, so a little high grass wasn't going to stop me. ;) The property owner reckons he's never seen a snake in all the years he's live there, thankfully that rang true for one more day.

Yes,happy birthday old fella

So you went for a dig on your own birthday day to get your own presents

Good choice :)
