Unfortunately had to head home a few days early but spent eight magnificent days camped around Maryborough and Tarnagulla , the weather was fantastic , the bush beautiful and the gold found really topped it off. Thanks to all the advice from this forum and its contributors .

The tally

Cheers to all

Great finds Bacchus. We've not had any luck recently but it's great to see its still there. One of these days we'll make it to Vic for a swing.

Mr & Mrs Steveo1 Tibooburra trip 2015
My good mate Steveo1 is up at Tibooburra again. Sending through some good pics so thought I'd share. Looks like they're having a ball.

Gotta get up there myself one day!

Great pics mate , looks like they are getting amongst it , hope to do a week up there May / June , looks like SDC country :D

I just got back from Tibooburra and spent some time with Steve and Mrs Steve. These guys are the friendliest people and everyone tends to gravitate towards them due to their hospitality and humour! I ended up catching up with him one day with some non detecting friends and he had them digging holes and finding gold. For the hour or so he had 10 bits to show and he sent them off travelling with those bits! What a great bloke. I had to come home early though as my SDC2300 is not working properly and being unstable like the sound when you turn on a PI in town. I met a bloke named peter and he allowed me to use his 5000 at night time to do some detecting. I ended up with 14 bits from 2 days (5 hours total time) totalling 0.8grams! The smallest gold Ive seen detected too. It was fairly disheartening to see the results of the working sdc2300 compared to the 5000, but now I have empathy towards the blokes in the club who always watch me pull gold every trip! I'll be back in September though!

Cheers for posting those up Matt.

I get the updates from him and I am always impressed with his tally of bits each day. Surely there still has to be one or two decent lumps left behind there somewhere? Such a vast area out there.

Seeing alluvial gold like that in places that are essentially desert is a great reminder of the dramatic geologic changes that have taken place over the millennia in this country.

Really hoping I can get over there for a swing with them one day. Keep up the great work Steveo! :D

Kindest regards,
Shauno.

Few days at Hill End over the break swinging my new Joey DD.
Alas no gold but was good to get my fix at last.

Quite a few hot rocks playing havoc with the old girl but after a few you can tell them apart from targets.

Top Heartbreaker/Fugget goes to the musket ball at 8" under a tree root in nice quartz gravel.
The weather was pretty ordinary but i managed a full day on sunday.
Best find was the 1875 one penny in really good condition.

Second best find was the half pound sausage roll and cheese n bacon pie before i left this morning!

If anyone want's to know where not to swing i've got some spots.

Shame about the drought Reece, nice penny and Fugg-art

No predecimals for me yet, I have only ever picked up a '69 1c from Hill End that was dropped to tease me. Good year though. :D

Looks like you gave it a good go mate. Penny is a good find, especially if in good condition.
