Came home yesterday after a great week in the GT with a rattle in the jar. Got a little specie at Wedderburn, and went for a look at my great great grandfathers claim. 1 of them anyway. Only found junk there unfortunately, but it was still cool to visit. Caught up with Patrick1 Saturday and scored a couple of little ones, almost got taken out by a fallen tree branch driving back to my mates place, it got a bit windy. Sunday I thought I'd continue following my roots and checked out Homebush for a while as my grandfather was from there. Struck out there this time but I will try again another time for sure. Also pinged another couple of bits on my travels, the bigger 1 at the top is 1.75g and was about 14 or 16 inches deep on the edge of somebodies dig hole. Sounded like ground noise until about 6 inches in. My guess is whoever had a crack at it before figured thats what it was. 1543930635_20181204_215817-1024x768.jpg

Onya chewy. Nice gold mate and a good read. Let me know before you head back to homebush. I've got a patch out there i reckon you could snag some from with the late model coils.

Got two small bits last night in the cool evening. The second piece- which is the round looking bit -I swore was a bullet it was that strong the signal. And it was about 6 inches deep. Its weird how some bits are so loud when most are the soft mellow sound. I spent 5 minutes double checking there wasnt a bullet in the hole to ease my mind. Anyway another lesson learned.

Thanks Walshie will do mate, I'd like to find a Homebush grown nuggy to get made into a pendant for my mum, as it was her dad who lived there. thumbsup

I'm a bit reluctant putting this picture in, I DIDN'T FIND IT so don't get envious. It was found by another bloke in our group. I sent an e-mail to an ex-mate of mine telling him that I found it, and the rat told centre link that I'm making a killing out prospecting. So it doesn't pay to brag.1544018031_20181202_133149-1-1.jpg

I don't understand how he could have been a mate in the first place. Obviously no tell tale signs that he was a A%$#)le.
Nice piece by the way

Nice piece!
Would never sell it and would be something cherished be the family and future generations hopefully.
I'd loved to see what came out of the ground in the 1800's.
Can only imagine!

Thanks for your response fellas, glad you appreciated my input. I sure wish it was me that found it, I could do with some cash this close to xmas and everything is so dear.
Though I doubt I would sell it either. It is a beautiful piece of gold and my god... it was heavy!!! You can really feel the difference compared to lead. It weighed about 14 onz. the area was near happy valley and the bloke who found it was using a GPX 5000 with the standard coil that came with the unit. I'm not sure what depth it was found at.
I don't know why some mates turn on you, the only reason I goaded him was because he didn't want me in a partnership with him when he discovered a mine at Cann river. Now I understand why people don't tell anyone about their finds, people do get really jealous.

On the bright side, this goes to show you that there is gold out there. Happy hunting and Merry Xmas to all.

Mrs M made the mistake of asking my brother to help load and ship a van of furniture from Capel to Cue. He turned up here with his SDC2300 neatly packed amongst his clothes. No wonder he jumped at the idea to help smile

I couldn't see him disappointed so after unloading the van we jumped into the purple bus and headed off to a location that had produced quite a bundle of nuggets for Mrs M and me some time back. We travelled more than three hours all up for a grand total of 0.09g found with his new SDC sad A bit of letdown but he did break in the new detector smile

I was a little embarrassed by my guidance so I tried to make amends by heading off to another location where we'd previously pulled a few and I felt that there should have been more down there.

1544100015_nug_41g.jpg

This time it was my turn. I had to show him why he should have bought a GPX4500 smile

1544100044_nug_41g_2.jpg

It came from about 300mm down and looks to be about 1/2 rock so perhaps 20g of gold.

Afterwards I took him off to a spot that I knew only has tiny SDC gold wink

1544100281_sdc_gold.jpg

We ended up with five nice little nuggets each and went home with a smile on our faces and feeling like we'd won the lottery lol

No GT, the SDC didn't see the speci until I'd dug down about 50mm, then it was barely there. It was not a great signal on the 4500 with 14"Elite but I knew it was down a bit because I couldn't pin it down to and exact spot.
