Xt1700 extra tracker vs gm1000

Hi all , I'm after some honest advice on what to do .
I own an older xt1700 that needs a small repair and I have been looking into the new gm1000
The main thing I would like to know is would the newer technology of a mid range detector out perform
An older ( but top of the range in its day) detector ? The other question is does anyone know where I may be able to
Take the 1700 to be repaired ? Any advice would be welcomed .

Very hard to beat a xt1700.
May be an older machine but a goodun.

I don't really know either machine but my guess is that the GM1000 will be better at find tiny gold near the surface and XT1700 will win hands down on anything more than a few millimeters below the surface.

Try Bendigo Gold World for the repairs.
You may also be able to do it ya self if it's simple.

Great machine though. Found some good gold with it years ago.

Thanks for the tip chrisco , I'm not to good with electronic stuff but I think it's the external speaker so I'll try some head phones and see what happens ! I'm a carpenter by trade and if it can't be fixed with a power saw , chisel or hammer I'm lost . LOL
