whats your best way to clean the glass on your wood heater?

Myself, scrunch up news paper, dip in water & shake off excess, then dip wet paper in the fine cold ash from the heater before scrubbing the glass. Use a dry piece of paper for a final wipe clean. Spotlessly clean in under a minute.

Can do this before lighting the fire or as I do use hot water and do it after the glass goes through its condensation phase after lighting, which is usually about 3 mins after lighting the fire. Works a treat

I never close it mate and the glass always goes a copper colour after a few fires.
Same as you BL ,
The ash works well :Y:

Amount of build up on the glass often depends on quality of wood, if crap timber then flue needs to be open wider to keep good airflow up .... harder to get good dry aged redgum.

Newspaper, water, ash then dry newspaper seems to work best, even use it on oven glass.
Hard to reach/corners use scraper blade after getting buildup damp.
