What is this?

I think its a calcite crystal based on the limestone area I found it in.

Any thoughts?

I would say it's either quartz crystal or it's most probably calcite. Good find!

there was heaps and heaps there took a few pickers and two larger ones. one for the mrs and myself.

has it got a pinkish colour or is that just the image ? if its pink it could be rose quartz

Calcite is a lot softer than quartz and you should be able to see some rhombohedral cleavage (which i believe i can see), try a small scratch with a steel knife or nail, calcite will scratch easily quartz will not srcatch

Nah it very dull cream.

Looks like it is Calcite because it scratched to the knife.
