There would be so many artefacts to be found in England and Europe. so many different cultures
the cross seems to have a horseshoe symbol in the lower section. unless it is a greek symbol ? the tie up is very unusual.

Great find but I'm curios as to what the chord is made of around the cross, looks like a metal coil spring(?)
