Pulse Induction On A Budget?

I'm not sure if this is the right area to ask but im just curious, im looking at buying an external speaker for my sd2000, now i've come across this one that has a built in amp - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/AROMA-A...rentrq:877693bc16b0abc616f9abc0ffe7d767|iid:1

now it says:
5W output guitar amp
Power: With built-in rechargeable battery ( 3.7V 1500mAH ) or any AC adapter to recharge

Now would running this off my 6v li-ion detector battery be a bad idea? Would it suck too much power and not be enough for both of them to work together?

It has it's own inbuilt rechargeable battery so no need - claims 6hrs playback time so should be longer for detecting? I wouldn't worry about running it off your detector battery or even try. Not a good idea IMO.
I've had a few Chinese speaker/amps & they can work well but quality can sometimes be an issue. I never had any problems but know there were other members that did have issues with breakages & failures so buyer beware.

The one your looking at appears more robust but pictures can be deceptive? The inbuilt rechargeable battery is a definite plus!

Beautiful thanks mbasko I'm going to have a look at that amp right now, it looks smaller than the one I was looking at so hopefully that means less weight I'll be carting around on my detector

Hi kicksome, isnt it funny how we start out with a budget in mind and it bracket creeps. Next thing you know youre trying to slide something past the Chief Financial Officer without full disclosure. Jaross Comment on the F1A4 reminded me of the only time I stayed under budget.
About 5 years ago an F1A4 came up for sale in my area for $400 and I bought it. I didnt need it but I bought it out of curiosity. Im not tech savvy but I know how to use a soldering iron, so I decided to do the coil and audio port conversions myself. I found detailed diagrams online (may have been this site, not sure) and bought the components on eBay for about $20. I took my time and ended up with a neat professional looking job. It wasnt that difficult.
As you noted, audio was very quiet, so I bought a used booster on eBay for $80 which completed the project for $500.
I was surprised how good the detector was. When powered up it would go through an automatic cycle to find the best frequency to cancel out emi, then you would place the coil on the ground and press a button and it would do an auto ground cancel. After this you would have an amazingly stable threshold. I attached a Sadie and compared it to the stock 8 coil. The Sadie was slightly better but not by much. The stock coil was very sensitive to tiny targets.
I played with it for a while and eventually sold it. I made a small profit as the 2 ports had been done.
Never swung it over a goldfield so I cant vouch for them in that respect, but it was the smoothest running detector Ive used, even directly under power lines.
Unmolested ones dont seem to seem to come up for sale much these days, mostly upgraded ones and sellers want a motza for them.

It's rough around the edges and could do with a shorter 6.5mm audio cable but its my baby for now. I'm just happy I dont have to use a back pack and headphones with it atm.

Also Rustynails I half wish I did find an old F1A4 up for sale because after reading up on it I wouldve jumped at it and modded it, they look very interesting.
